Job summary

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) seeks a qualified Mental Health Clinician for the CHS division in New York City jails. The role involves conducting mental health evaluations, crisis interventions, and coordinated discharge planning within correctional facilities.

The position requires a Master’s degree in social work or psychology and New York State licensure in social work, mental health counseling, or psychology, with union 1199 benefits and a Monday–Friday schedule.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field.
• New York State professional license in social work, mental health counseling, or psychology.
• Experience with assessment and treatment of adults with behavioral problems and severe mental illness preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides mental health evaluations, crisis intervention, assessments, and follow-up care.
• Determines and coordinates disposition for appropriate level of mental health care including discharge planning.
• Completes required statistical reports.
• Collaborates with the Department of Correction to ensure access to patients and treatment disposition.
• Develops and leads group treatment on mental health observation units and other units as assigned.
• Completes all required documentation and participates in supervision and rounds.
