Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide a variety of professional medical services to inmates.
• Provide leadership direction for the medical program.
• Monitor operations and standards of care.
• Interview inmates and make decisions on admissions.
• Participate in treatment team meetings.
• Perform minor and occasionally major surgeries.
• Hold clinics for nursing specialists.
• Maintain relationships with facility and outside staff.
• Assist in formulating facility policy for medical program.
• Regularly evaluate all medical services.
• Monitor inpatient hospitalizations for early releases.
• Prepare and maintain operational records and reports.
• Facilitate NCCHC/ACA/JCAHO accreditation.
• Provide health counseling and education.
• Communicate responsibilities clearly to subordinates.
• Conduct meetings and promote communication between staff.

Education
