Job summary

UTMB Health is seeking a Certified Medication Aide to support healthcare delivery within correctional facilities. The role focuses on direct patient care, medication administration, and adherence to privacy and safety standards in a secure prison setting.

In this position, you will collect vital signs, assist with activities of daily living, and participate in ongoing training to meet ACA standards. Shift work and readiness to work in a correctional environment are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Current Texas Certified Medication Aide permit is required.

Responsibilities

• Collects, reports and documents data: vital signs, height and weight, intake and output, pulse oximetry, and collects specimens.
• Performs and reports Point of Care Testing.
• Assists with patient activities and care as assigned by the charge nurse/designee as indicated by the patient’s plan of care.
• Distributes and documents patients’ medications, both in general population and administrative segregation, from filled prescriptions, abiding by applicable standards.
• Maintains patients’ privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times.
