Job summary

The Missouri Department of Corrections is seeking an Enterprise Operations Supervisor to oversee offender workers and supervise the maintenance of equipment and materials used in production areas, ensuring safety, security, and quality across tasks. You will inspect machines, record work orders, manage materials, and assist in training offenders while complying with procedures and state policies.

A high school diploma or GED plus relevant experience is required; CDL may be required.

Qualifications

• One or more years of experience in a production area or correctional industries operation
• Two or more years of any work experience and a high school diploma or GED
• Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a Missouri Class A Commercial Driver’s License within 6 months
• Contingent upon assignment, eligibility for shift differentials and other pay incentives may apply

The annual salary listed for this position includes the additional $1.50 per hour maximum security differential ($3,120 annually) for all full-time positions domiciled in a maximum-security institution.

• Supervises/trains offenders in the performance of various enterprise related tasks/maintenance of equipment and materials used
• Exercises constant vigilance over offender actions to prevent contraband and ensure accountability for all materials
• Reports unusual activities
• Inspects work-in-progress for conformance with quality standards/efficiency of operations
• Inspects machines/equipment for proper operation and maintenance
• Supervises in the servicing/maintenance/minor repair of industry equipment
• Issues/inspects/collects/ counts/locks up hand tools to maintain security
• Maintains daily work order records regarding time/materials used/type of work performed for documentation and billing purposes
• Inspects buildings/work area for potential fire hazards and unsafe working conditions
• Evaluates performance/skills of offender workers
• Assists in requisitioning materials/supplies/estimating cost of various jobs
• Participates in the training and orientation of offenders regarding the procedures of various vocational enterprise operations
• Receives general administrative direction
• Performs other related work as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

One or more years of experience in a production area, or in an area related to a correctional industries operation (e.g., upholstery, engraving, printing, laundry, furniture restoration, metal fabrication, chair manufacturing and assembly, or manufacturing of shoes, furniture, or chemical products) of the Missouri Department of Corrections; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency OR

Two or more years of any work experience; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency

Special Requirements:

By assignment, a position may require: Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a Missouri Class A Commercial Driver’s License at the time of appointment or within 6 months of being appointed or assigned to a position

Contingent upon your position, you may also be eligible to receive:

• A $2.00 per hour shift differential if you are assigned to a shift that begins on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am and are employed at a 24/7 congregate care facility (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center).
• A $1.00 per hour restrictive housing differential if you are assigned a regular post within a restrict housing/segregation unit at any facility.

The Department of Corrections currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years! If you are transferring from another State of Missouri agency and are receiving state retention pay, please be advised that the Missouri Department of Corrections administers retention based upon your retention anniversary date. As a result, your retention pay upon transfer may differ from what you were receiving at your previous agency until you reach your applicable retention anniversary date.
