Job summary

UTMB Health seeks a Clinical Staff Pharmacist for Huntsville Central Pharmacy to oversee safe medication therapy and lead pharmacy staff. You will review orders, counsel patients, administer vaccines, and ensure compliance with 340B and regulatory standards.

Candidate must hold a PharmD/BS in Pharmacy, Texas license, and immunization certification, with strong communication and leadership abilities. Weekend/shift coverage may be required in a prison setting.

Qualifications

Pharmacy degree or PharmD and Texas license required.
Immunization certification within six months of hire.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills required.

Responsibilities

Interpret medication orders and ensure therapy suitability for all patient ages.
Compound and dispense medications per orders in all patient care areas.
Detect and report adverse drug events.
Review interactions and contraindications, advising prescribers to reduce risk.
Maintain patient medication profiles and care plans.
Provide medication counseling to patients; explain purpose, duration and side effects.
Provide drug information to the healthcare team and vaccine administration.
Supervise staff and reinforce department policies; train learners.
