Job summary

Westchester EFC in Des Moines invites a part-time Corporate Worship Ministry Director to lead a volunteer team in worship that is biblically grounded and Gospel-centered, guiding the congregation through music that stirs adoration of God.

You will oversee worship planning, recruit and mentor volunteers, coordinate services and special events, manage rehearsals, budget and AV coordination, reporting to the Lead Pastor.

Qualifications

• A mature, growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
• In agreement with the EFCA Statement of Faith.
• An enthusiastic member of Westchester, or willing to become one.
• Experience with leading and developing people.
• Skilled in leading worship vocally and instrumentally (guitar and/or keyboard preferred).
• Experience leading blended worship in a church setting; comfortable working with multigenerational teams.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Committed to personally growing in both personal walk with Christ and professional skill. A humble awareness of growth areas.
• Accountable: able to accept responsibility, submit to authority, and a teachable heart.

Responsibilities

• Lead worship leadership by implementing a biblically-centered vision for worship and guiding song selection, planning, and ministry operations.
• Coordinate the Worship Ministry team—planners, musicians, and AV personnel—across service planning and execution.
• Plan music for special services (Christmas Eve, Good Friday, conferences, funerals, etc.).
• Oversee the Worship Ministry Budget and resources.

Corporate Worship Ministry Director

The primary responsibility of this position is to lead a team of volunteers who will lead the congregation in worship while emphasizing what is Biblically true and Gospel-centered in the lyrics we sing while stirring our affection, awe, and adoration of God. Through music, lead us in awe-filled praise to God for all He is and all He has done.

Key Responsibilities

Worship Leadership

• Implement a vision of worship that upholds what is biblically true of God while helping us center on the Gospel and express our affection and adoration of God.
• Lead the Worship Ministry team—planners, musicians, and AV personnel—in coordinating song selection, service planning, and overall ministry operations.
• Coordinate the music planning and teams for various special services (Christmas Eve, Good Friday, Global Conference, funerals…).
• Oversee the Worship Ministry Budget.

Team Development

• Lead a team of planners to prepare weekly worship services in partnership with the Lead Pastor.
• Recruit, mentor, and coordinate volunteer worship leaders, musicians, and tech team members to grow and maintain a strong team culture.
• Provide clear onramps into worship ministry for new people to join and use their talents to glorify God.
• Evaluate and utilize the individual skillsets of the team in a complimentary fashion.
• Facilitate rehearsals, schedule teams, and foster a healthy, unified ministry culture.
• Provide real time feedback in rehearsals to improve quality and energy while building confidence.

Administration & Support

• Utilize tools like Planning Center for scheduling and service planning.
• Develop and maintain a working knowledge of AV equipment, both what we use in house and streaming.
• Collaborate with the AV team to ensure smooth worship production and sound quality.
• Oversee worship resources, equipment, and budget.

• Status: Part-Time (30-34 hours/week)
• Reports to: Lead Pastor

• Compensation: Based on experience (includes benefits)
