Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling in Cincinnati is seeking a Corporate Safety Compliance Specialist (OSHA/Fire) to ensure OSHA compliance, manage safety programs, audit practices, and support incident investigations across operations. The role collaborates with regional safety teams and maintenance, develops training materials, and promotes a proactive safety culture while maintaining records and reporting requirements.

Requires 3–5 years of occupational safety experience and OSHA certifications.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in occupational safety, OSHA compliance, Fire Systems and Prevention, or safety program management.
  • Experience in industrial, manufacturing, waste management, transportation, or construction environments preferred.
  • Experience in DOT compliance is a plus.
  • Experience with Fire Suppression Systems is a plus.
  • Experience with incident investigation and root cause analysis.
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry or Construction, preferred.
  • OSHA General Industry Outreach Trainer Certification or qualified to obtain.
  • Fire Suppression System knowledge, preferred.
  • NFPA knowledge, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure company compliance with OSHA regulations and applicable state safety standards
  • Monitor regulatory updates and communicate changes affecting company operations
  • Assist in the development and revision of safety policies and procedures to align with OSHA requirements
  • Support OSHA inspections, regulatory inquiries, and documentation requests
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of safety programs and initiatives across company locations
  • Assist in the reduction of fire risks and implement initiatives across company locations
  • Lead safety and compliance internal audits
  • Identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions
  • Assist with the investigation of workplace injuries, near misses, and fires
  • Identify root causes and recommend corrective and preventive actions
  • Ensure proper documentation and reporting of incidents
  • Maintain OSHA injury and illness records (OSHA 300, 300A, and 301 logs); annual reporting as required with OSHA ITA and BLS requests
  • Ensure accurate documentation and regulatory reporting requirements are met
  • Support preparation of OSHA reports and safety performance metrics
  • Provide OSHA compliance training and safety education to corporate teams and new safety managers/supervisors throughout the regions
  • Assist with the development of safety training materials and programs
  • Support ongoing safety awareness initiatives and employee engagement efforts
  • Perform other duties as needed

The Corporate Safety Compliance Specialist (OSHA/Fire) is responsible for ensuring organizational compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, Fire Prevention, and internal safety policies. This role supports the development, implementation, monitoring, and auditing of safety programs to reduce workplace injuries, improve regulatory compliance, and promote a proactive safety culture across operations.

The Corporate Safety Compliance Specialist (OSHA/Fire) works closely with the Safety Compliance Specialist (DOT), Region Safety Managers, Operations leadership, and Maintenance teams to identify hazards, evaluate regulatory requirements, and ensure safety programs are effectively implemented and maintained.

Responsibilities of Position:

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure company compliance with OSHA regulations and applicable state safety standards
  • Monitor regulatory updates and communicate changes affecting company operations

Program Administration

  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of safety programs and initiatives across company locations

Auditing & Inspections

  • Lead safety and compliance internal audits
  • Identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions

OSHA Recordkeeping
