Job summary

Plains, headquartered in Houston, TX, seeks a Corporate Planning Analyst to partner with finance, engineering, and commercial teams. You will maintain and enhance financial models, support the annual plan and quarterly guidance, and provide reporting to senior leadership.

Qualifications

As a Corporate Planning Analyst, you will serve as a finance business partner for the organization, working closely with other financial, commercial, and engineering groups to assist with planning, analysis, and financial reporting. Core responsibilities involve maintaining and updating the company financial models and supporting the annual plan and quarterly guidance processes.

This role reports to the Manager of Corporate Planning & Analysis. The position is located in PAA's corporate headquarter offices in Houston, TX. and has high visibility to the CEO, President, and CFO, as well as many other Senior Officers of the company.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and design/build company financial forecast models used by Sr. Management for the annual budget, quarterly public guidance, and long-range strategic planning initiatives.
• Assist in annual plan and quarterly guidance processes.
• Partner with Engineering, Commercial, Accounting, and other stakeholders to deliver monthly and quarterly capital project reporting and forecasting to senior management
• Assist in compiling various internal and external presentations, including financial updates for PAA's Board of Directors, Sr. Management, Investor Relations, Banks, and Rating Agencies. Support the business decision making (operational and strategic). Collaborate effectively across multiple groups and functions to develop value-add analytics and insight on business performance. Support the monthly financial reporting process to provide Sr. Management updates on actual performance and comparisons to guidance forecasts. Actively contribute to design and development of financial business reporting by connecting business needs with reporting technology solutions; understanding how Oracle EPM/PowerBI software can automate reporting and assist with complex reporting and analysis.
• Perform ad-hoc deep dive analysis that connects understanding of core financial indicators and their relationship to the underlying business. Support company-wide initiative to converge processes and identify opportunities to standardize and streamline reporting.

Requirements:

• 2-3 years of relevant experience University degree in a finance related discipline (strong financial acumen)
• Professional qualification such as a CPA or recent progress to obtaining your qualification would be an asset
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convert data into understandable key messages & insights
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong interpersonal & leadership skills with personal confidence to quickly build credibility, respect, and rapport
• Technical capabilities that facilitate financial modeling and reporting or the aptitude to develop these skills
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills; ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities with high-quality results
• High attention to detail; must be conscientious of work product
• High enthusiasm and solutions-oriented attitude
• Strong initiative with the ability to work independently
• Must be proficient with Microsoft 365 programs and knowledge of macros
