Job summary

Grande Cheese Company’s laboratory internship offers hands-on experience supporting new equipment implementation, employee training, quality processes, and daily laboratory operations. You will help drive continuous improvement, support testing activities, and contribute to projects that enhance efficiency and the success of the lab, while collaborating with experienced professionals.

Qualifications

  • Student in Sophomore or higher pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, food science, or related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, including data analysis and table creation.
  • Strong mathematical skills and understanding of basic statistics.

Responsibilities

  • Support installation, qualification, calibration, and commissioning of new chemistry laboratory equipment.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs for laboratory equipment.
  • Train laboratory personnel on equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Assist in maintaining ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation through documentation review and quality records management.
  • Participate in internal audits, process reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with routine laboratory testing and daily operations.

Job description

Join our laboratory team and gain hands-on experience supporting new equipment implementation, employee training, quality processes, and day-to-day laboratory operations. Working alongside experienced professionals, you'll help drive continuous improvement initiatives, support testing activities, and contribute to projects that enhance the efficiency and success of the laboratory.

What you will be doing:

  • Support the installation, qualification, calibration, and commissioning of new chemistry laboratory equipment.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for laboratory equipment.
  • Train laboratory personnel on proper equipment operation, maintenance, and best practices.
  • Assist in maintaining ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation through documentation review, quality record management, and compliance activities.
  • Participate in internal audits, process reviews, document control, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and support corrective and preventive actions within the quality system.
  • Assist with routine laboratory testing and daily laboratory operations as needed.
  • Collaborate with laboratory leadership on automation, calibration, and laboratory improvement projects while working independently and as part of a team.

What you need to be considered for the role:

  • Student in Sophomore or greater status pursuing a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, food science, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, including graphing, table creation, and data analysis.
  • Strong mathematical skills and an understanding of basic statistical concepts.
  • Basic understanding of laboratory practices, analytical testing, and laboratory safety principles.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred:

  • Exposure to statistical applications and interpretation of laboratory data.
  • Previous laboratory, science, or quality-related experience through coursework, internships, or employment.
  • Experience supporting documentation, process improvement, or quality system activities in a laboratory setting.
