Scope

Houlihan Lokey is looking for an intern to join the firm’s growing Corporate Development team. Over the past decade, the firm’s bull‑bear balanced platform has worked as designed and the company has grown over 13% per year since its IPO. As such, effectuating greater operational efficiencies and strategic acquisitions have become an increasingly important part of the firm’s growth strategy.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Corporate Development team on a broad array of acquisition‑related activities and special projects.
• Support the team’s origination efforts, including development of acquisition target searches and profiles, preliminary evaluation of industry participants for categorization and prioritization within HL’s pipeline, and tracking pipeline activities and CRM database maintenance using Salesforce and Pitchbook.
• Aid in post‑acquisition performance tracking by analyzing precedent transactions and creating reports shared with management and leveraged during deal execution.
• Develop and manage databases, processes, templates, and reports that drive efficiency and productivity for acquisitions and other strategic projects (e.g., precedent‑transaction databases, acquisition target lists, and presentation templates).

Basic Qualifications

• Junior or senior in a bachelor’s degree program, preferably in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
• Previous professional internship experience preferred.
• Desire to pursue a career in investment banking or finance preferred.
• Basic understanding of financial modeling and analysis commonly used in acquisition work, plus general knowledge of relevant accounting principles.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; frequent interaction with senior management.
• Proficient in Excel and competent in PowerPoint and Word.
• Strong work ethic and self‑starter.
