Job summary

Core & Main LP in St. Louis is seeking a Corporate Development Analyst to support M&A and strategy projects in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. You will collaborate across departments to build financial analyses, valuation models, and dashboards that inform strategic decisions.

The role offers exposure to accounting, business development, HR, IT, operations, marketing, and sales, with a focus on data-driven insights and cross-functional collaboration to advance corporate objectives.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA in accounting, economics, finance or related field.
  • Generally 2–4 years of experience in a related field, or MS/MA with 0–1 year of experience in a related field
  • Previous M&A, Finance, or Audit experience
  • Certification may be required in some areas.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares financial analyses and valuation modeling to support M&A.
  • Participates in all aspects of M&A including strategic analysis, valuation, and financial and operational due diligence
  • Participates in the strategic planning process for the company and other internal strategy discussions
  • Prepares data analytic dashboards and presentations to support reporting needs
  • Prepares supplemental market research materials for key initiatives
  • Prepares and delivers insights and recommendations based on analyses
  • Executes tasks directly related to functional projects and process improvements
  • Communicates issues and roadblocks related to areas of responsibility
  • Assist in research or special projects in a variety of areas in order to fulfill business initiatives and meet business objectives
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Summary

The Corporate Development Analyst will work collaboratively with the Corporate Development team on a variety of initiatives in a fast-paced learning- and growth-oriented environment. The major tasks, responsibilities, and accountabilities for the Corporate Development Analyst will support both Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and Strategy projects. This role will have peripheral exposure to areas including accounting, business development, human resources, information technology, operations, marketing, sales, and/or other departments.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
  • Prepares financial analyses and valuation modeling to support M&A
  • Participates in all aspects of M&A including strategic analysis, valuation, and financial and operational due diligence

Nature and Scope

Works in compliance with established procedures and/or protocols. Identifies and resolves readily identifiable, clearly defined problems. Demonstrates skill in data analysis and techniques by resolving missing or incomplete information and inconsistencies or anomalies in routine research and data. Nature of work requires general supervision; exercises judgment. May be paired with a mentor. Work typically involves regular process checks or review of output by a coworker and/or supervisor. May provide general guidance and direction to or train junior level support personnel.

Work Environment

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about. Occasionally there may be a requirement to stoop or lift light material or equipment (typically less than 8 pounds). Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age or older
  • Must pass pre-employment assessment(s) if applicable
  • Education and Experience: BS / BA in a related discipline (e.g. accounting, economics, finance, etc.). \ Certification may be required in some areas.
  • Generally 2 - 4 years of experience in a related field OR MS / MA and generally 0 - 1 year of experience in a related field
  • Previous M&A, Finance, or Audit experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Transaction services experience (e.g., financial due diligence, valuation, etc.)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Professional certification in area of expertise (e.g., CFA, CPA, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and competing priorities
  • Demonstrated superior academic performance and strong analytical skills
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, and initiative
  • Solid track record of results-oriented leadership
