Job summary

Walgreens is seeking a Corporate Counsel to support data commercialization, analytics, and digital insights initiatives. You will provide strategic, business-forward legal guidance on data-driven products, contracting, privacy, and governance, collaborating with Data & Analytics, Digital, Marketing, Product, and Security teams.

The role reports to a senior member of the Legal Department and is based in Deerfield, Illinois. Salary range is $115,400 - $196,200 with standard salaried benefits.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and at least three years of post-bar attorney legal work experience.
• Licensed to practice law in at least one state.
• Illinois bar membership or active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Experience with time management and multi-project deadlines.
• Experience collaborating across business lines to develop departmental strategies.
• At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions.
• At least 2 years of direct or cross-functional leadership.
• Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of agreements supporting data/analytics use cases, including data licensing, data sharing, analytics/SOWs, and related arrangements.
• Advise on data commercialization models and associated legal risk tradeoffs.
• Partner with Privacy Counsel to ensure contracts reflect appropriate controls (data handling, retention, breach notification, audit rights, cross-border considerations).
• Provide practical legal advice on IP ownership, licenses, confidentiality, data use limits, indemnities, and service levels.
• Create and maintain templates, playbooks, and negotiation guidance to streamline contracting.
