Job summary

Colliers International Valuation & Advisory Services is seeking an experienced in-house counsel to provide legal guidance across commercial real estate service lines, focusing on brokerage, contracts, and risk management. You will draft, review, and negotiate agreements, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to align objectives and ensure strong governance.

You will act as a trusted advisor to professionals, manage multiple contracts in a fast-paced environment, and support leadership

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school and an active State Bar in good standing.
  • 3 to 8 years of legal experience in-house within commercial real estate or related industry.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts in a high-volume environment.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to provide practical legal guidance on risks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal counsel to multiple business lines, using sound judgment to resolve matters.
  • Serve as trusted advisor to service line professionals and help them reach goals.
  • Review internal shared services documentation, including vendor agreements and procurement documents.
  • Support senior legal colleagues and leadership with research and projects.
  • Develop positive relationships across Colliers to align objectives and service levels.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

About you

Working remotely or at one of our offices located in the U.S. region, you will be responsible for providing legal counsel for our various commercial real estate services business lines, with a focus on brokerage services. You will be responsible for contract negotiation, review and drafting, risk management and general legal advice. You may assist in review of internal shared services documentation from time to time, including leases and vendor agreements, and you will develop positive and collaborative relationships with employees across the organization.

In this role, you will…
  • You will successfully provide legal counsel to a range of business lines, using your excellent judgement to actively solve legal matters.
  • You will become a trusted advisor to our service line professionals to assist them in reaching their goals.
  • You will assist in reviewing internal shared services documentation from time to time, including vendor agreements and other procurement documents.
  • You will support senior legal colleagues and business line leadership with research and other projects as required.
  • You will develop positive and collaborative relationships with members of Colliers to ensure a common understanding of objectives and service level agreements.
  • You will perform other job-related duties as may be assigned.
What you’ll bring
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school and an active member of at least one State Bar in good standing.
  • 3 to 8 years of legal experience, preferably in-house within commercial real estate, or a related industry.
  • In-house experience (particularly within the commercial real estate or professional services industry) preferred but not required
  • Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts in a fast-paced and high-volume environment
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinker with focus on practical client advice on legal risks
  • Possess strong organizational, time management and project management skills with a demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Knowledge of general commercial law and real estate agreements & transactions.
Pay Range

Pursuant to local law, Colliers is disclosing the following information:

Area/Location Specific: WFH, Atlanta, DC, Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San Francisco

Approximate Compensation Range for this Role: $160,000 to $185,000

Our compensation ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all national locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Benefits

Employees (and their families) are provided options for employer subsidized medical benefits including RX, dental, vision as well as employer paid basic life/AD&D insurance and short-term / long-term disability. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, which includes an employer match. Employees will also receive 10 sick days and a minimum of 15 vacation days annually.Employees will also enjoy 10 paid holidays plus two personal flex days throughout the calendar year. Employees may also be permitted up to 4-12 weeks of paid parental leave depending on eligibility criteria.Individuals may be eligible for different or additional benefits under applicable state law.

Bonus

This position is eligible for an annual bonus, based on company and individual performance.
