Job summary

National Services Group, Inc. in California seeks a Corporate Counsel with a strong litigation background to join our expanding legal team.

Reporting to Senior Corporate Counsel, you will support a broad range of litigation and transactional matters while focusing on practical problem solving and business impact. Responsibilities include managing disputes, coordinating outside counsel, drafting discovery and motions, reviewing contracts, and advising leadership on risk and compliance in line

• Coordinate and manage outside counsel on assigned matters.
• Assist with insurance and risk management matters, including tendering claims to and coordinating with insurance carriers.
• Provide day-to-day legal advice to business leaders on a wide range of corporate and commercial matters.
• Maintain current and up-to-date knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and standards.

Role:

We are seeking a business-oriented generalist attorney with a strong litigation background to join our legal team as Corporate Counsel and work with NSG’s legal team. This position will report to the Senior Corporate Counsel. The Corporate Counsel is responsible for providing legal support and advice to the Company on a broad range of litigation and transactional matters. Experience with corporate and business litigation is a plus. This position must have a solid business orientation and focus on practical problem solving while upholding the Company’s strong ethics, culture, and principles of integrity across the organization. Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage assigned litigation and pre-litigation disputes across a broad range of matters, which may include commercial, contract, employment, and construction-related cases (e.g., mechanics’ lien, payment bond, and contract disputes).
• Assist with drafting responses to subpoenas, discovery requests, and demand letters.
• Negotiate and review contracts.
• Coordinate and manage outside counsel on assigned matters.
• Assist with insurance and risk management matters, including tendering claims to and coordinating with insurance carriers.
• Provide day-to-day legal advice to business leaders on a wide range of corporate and commercial matters.
• Maintain current and up-to-date knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and standards.

Education and/or Experience

• JD from an ABA accredited law school
• Member in good standing of the California State Bar
• 5+ years' licensed legal practice experience with a substantial litigation background; corporate/business litigation experience is a plus

• Base salary of $120,000 - $150,000 per year, plus eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus

This position primarily works in an office environment. It requires frequent sitting, standing and walking. Daily use of a computer and other computing and digital devices is required.
