True Religion Brand Jeans is seeking a Corporate Counsel to provide broad legal support across commercial and corporate matters. You will draft and negotiate contracts, protect IP, review advertising and licensing, and advise on governance while partnering with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.

You have a JD and CA or NY license, 4–6+ years of experience in law firms or in-house, and a practical, business-minded approach to resolving complex issues in a fast-paced fashion environment.

Description

THE PURPOSE: As Corporate Counsel, you will provide legal support across a broad range of commercial and corporate matters while partnering closely with the EVP, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary. This role plays an important part in supporting the company's legal needs through contract negotiation, intellectual property protection, licensing and marketing agreements, litigation support, privacy policies, and corporate governance. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, business-minded attorney who enjoys working cross-functionally and developing practical legal solutions that enable business growth while protecting the company's interests.

THE ROLE (what you are accountable for):

• Draft, review, negotiate, advise and administer a broad range of commercial agreements, including but not limited to vendor, consulting, technology, marketing, licensing, distribution, sourcing, manufacturing, talent, brand collaborations and confidentiality agreements.
• Partner with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Product Development, Design, Sourcing, Retail, Operations, Finance, and Human Resources to provide timely legal guidance on day-to-day business matters.
• Identify legal risks and recommend practical solutions that support business objectives while protecting the company's interests.
• Support the management of True Religion's global intellectual property portfolio, including trademarks, copyrights, brand protection initiatives, and coordination with outside counsel.
• Review and advise advertising, promotional, and social media materials for compliance with applicable laws, intellectual property requirements, and FTC guidelines.
• Assist with litigation matters by coordinating discovery requests, document collection, legal holds, and communications with outside counsel.
• Support privacy, cybersecurity, e-commerce, and consumer protection initiatives, including website terms, privacy policies, vendor agreements, and regulatory compliance.
• Assist with corporate governance activities, legal due diligence, contract administration, and other corporate legal projects as assigned.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of legal processes, templates, and contract management practices to increase efficiency across the department.

REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in California or New York, or ability to qualify as Registered In-House Counsel.
• Minimum 4–6 years of legal experience within a law firm and/or in-house legal department.
• Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Experience supporting corporate departments with practical legal advice in a fast-paced environment.
• Exposure to intellectual property, licensing, marketing, or consumer products law.
• Strong critical thinking, written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while understanding the level of importance for each.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently with appropriate guidance.
• Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships across business functions.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Experience within the fashion, apparel, retail, consumer products, or lifestyle industries.
• Familiarity with trademark and copyright matters.
• Experience reviewing advertising, influencer/talent agreements, or licensing contracts.
• Working knowledge of privacy, e-commerce, and consumer protection regulations.
• Experience working with contract lifecycle management systems or legal technology tools.

ADDITIONAL ROLE INFORMATION

• Compensation: The anticipated base salary range for this role is $165,000 – $205,000. This is a full-time, exempt position. This range represents the low and high end of the expected base salary range for this role based on the applicable location. True Religion reasonably expects to pay within this range in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and internal equity.
