Job description

Our client, a private equity-backed equipment manufacturer with multiple sites in the USA, is seeking a Corporate Controller to join their growing team in Lexington, KY.

The Controller will work closely with the CFO to drive financial excellence and operational efficiency. Responsibilities include modernizing financial processes, enhancing internal controls, implementing best practices in accounting, optimizing cash management, and supporting third-party tax providers. The role also involves leading M&A accounting integrations and supporting system implementations.

Responsibilities

1. Build a High Performing Finance Organization
   • Assess and develop the accounting team, processes, and capabilities
   • Foster a culture of engagement and high performance
   • Ensure successful annual audits
2. Drive Improvement in Key Processes & Systems
   • Support the rollout of delegation of authority and educate teams
   • Maintain consolidated financial records following GAAP
   • Establish control frameworks and document the close process to achieve a 4-day close
   • Develop and implement accounting policies and leverage automation
   • Manage cash, credit reporting, and third-party tax compliance
   • Lead bi-weekly tax meetings with PE sponsors
3. Lead M&A Accounting Integration
   • Assess organizational readiness and lead post-merger integration
   • Develop an accounting integration playbook

Qualifications & Experience

• 5-7 years in accounting and finance, with experience building high-performing teams
• Strong communication skills
• Business partnering skills
• Understanding of tax and experience managing relationships with tax advisors
• Public accounting experience preferred; CPA preferred
• Treasury and risk management experience is a plus
