Job summary

Harmer is partnering with a Houston-based company to fill a Corporate Controller role that will sit in the accounting leadership team. The position is highly visible and hands-on, working closely with senior leadership on corporate accounting, financial reporting, and complex matters across a multi-entity organization.

This role will lead a team, drive process improvements, and play a key part in budgets, audits, treasury, and tax initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA license preferred.
• 10+ years of accounting experience with 2+ in a leadership capacity.
• Public accounting experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee corporate accounting and financial reporting activities.
• Review financial statements and ensure GAAP compliance.
• Manage accounting across a complex, multi-entity organization.
• Support complex and non-routine accounting transactions.
• Oversee and develop members of the accounting team.
• Partner with senior leadership on accounting and finance initiatives.
• Support external audits and other compliance requirements.
• Assist with treasury and tax-related matters.
• Participate in budgeting and forecasting.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
• Lead and participate in special projects as needed.

This is a highly visible role that will work closely with senior leadership and have responsibility across corporate accounting, financial reporting, complex accounting matters and special projects.

The position will be hands-on while also having the opportunity to lead a team, work through complex accounting matters, improve processes and play a key role in larger company initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee corporate accounting and financial reporting activities

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA (preferred)
• 10+ years of accounting experience with 2+ in a leadership capacity
• Previous experience in public accounting (strongly preferred)

Skills:

• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting
• Experience working within a complex and/or multi-entity environment
