Executive Search Consultant at Pinnacle Search

Our client is a growing, PE‑backed national provider of end‑to‑end outsourced logistics services and over‑the‑road trucking services. Their specialty is enterprise services and solutions for all‑size operations across the retail, manufacturing, and distribution sectors. This team brings decades of proven expertise and provides reliable, high‑performance services while lowering the total cost of their clients' operations.

The Corporate Controller will be a key leader of the accounting team reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, and is responsible for overseeing all accounting activities, including external and internal reporting, internal controls oversight and implementation, accounting policy development and maintenance, and new accounting standards implementation.

Key Position Responsibilities

Deliver high‑quality financial information in a timely, accurate, and transparent manner.

  • Manage all of the daily aspects of accounting, billing, financial statements, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax compliance, and revenue recognition.
  • Oversee close and general accounting responsibilities, including weekly entries to support the close calendar, account reconciliations, and period‑end close.
  • Lead the corporate accounting department's activities for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports, including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements and annual audits.

Drive continued improvement in financial management.

  • Set a high standard for the accounting function and each of its processes.
  • Challenge historical procedures and develop more efficient and accurate processes in areas requiring manual involvement.
  • Implement best practice processes and systems in key accounting functions while developing and tracking functional KPIs (P2P, R2R, expense management, etc.).
  • Leverage experience with project management, system implementations, and organizational change to lead desired change within the company.
  • Evaluate and enhance the system of internal controls to ensure assets are appropriately protected.

Build and maintain a high‑performing team.

  • Develop a culture of service, performance, and continuous improvement. Promote and reward initiative and teamwork.
  • Effectively manage and develop the accounting team, ensuring responsibilities are met promptly and appropriately.
  • Develop a set of KPIs to help tell the story and demonstrate the function's collective ownership of performance.
  • Communicate regularly with the entire team to keep apprised of upcoming issues and celebrate achievements.
  • Take decisive actions on necessary team member adjustments.

Serve as the technical accounting and reporting expert.

  • Provide exceptional knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) relevant to the company and modify current practices to adopt.
  • Manage all aspects of the audit relationship.
  • Manage fixed assets and capital expenditure accounting and reporting.
  • Enthusiastically take on special projects and ad hoc reporting requirements of the business.
Professional & Personal Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, MBA or advanced degree preferred. CPA certification is a plus.
Experience
  • Experience streamlining accounting processes, building a best‑in‑class financial foundation into which the business can more easily integrate future acquisitions.
  • Prior experience in a company offering asset-heavy transportation, distribution, or logistics-related services.
  • Ability to deliver exceptional service through positive engagement and patience.
  • Ability to work in a team environment to continuously improve results.
  • Ability to promote a culture of trust and safety.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, including presenting to executive leadership respectfully and effectively while properly defending recommendations/ideas.
