Job summary

Burnout Brands seeks a hands-on US Corporate Controller to oversee accounting for three business units, ensuring accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and robust cost accounting in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee all accounting operations for three business units including general ledger, AP/AR, fixed assets, and inventory accounting.
  • Provide accounting and financial support for potential acquisitions and assume responsibility for additional companies as assigned.
  • Lead the monthly close process and ensure timely and accurate GAAP reporting.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for leadership review.
  • Maintain and enforce strong internal controls to safeguard assets and data integrity.
  • Support external audits and ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements.
  • Oversee cost accounting: standard costing, product profitability, BOM accuracy, labor and overhead allocation, and variances.
  • Analyze manufacturing variances to identify performance trends and opportunities.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the US Corporate Controller will oversee the day-to-day accounting operations for three business units including BTR, Monster Transmissions, and D&J Precision Machine ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and effective cost accounting processes within a manufacturing environment.

This role is responsible for managing core accounting functions including the general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, fixed assets, inventory accounting, and financial reporting. The US Corporate Controller will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of financial data within the respective ERP systems of each business unit while providing detailed financial analysis to support operational and business decision-making.

The successful candidate will bring strong hands-on accounting experience, deep knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting, and the ability to analyze financial data to identify operational improvements and support business performance.

The US Corporate Controller will perform the following:

  • Direct and oversee all accounting operations for the three business units including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and inventory accounting.
  • Provide accounting and financial support for potential future acquisitions and assume responsibility for additional companies as assigned by management.
  • Lead the monthly close process and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for leadership review.
  • Maintain and enforce strong internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial records and safeguard company assets.
  • Support external audits and ensure compliance with all financial reporting requirements.
  • Oversee all cost accounting processes including standard costing, product profitability, inventory valuation, labor and overhead allocation, and manufacturing variance analysis.
  • Analyze manufacturing variances including material usage, labor efficiency, and overhead absorption to identify performance trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure accuracy of bill of materials (BOM), routings, and product cost structures within the business units respective ERP system.
  • Partner with operations and supply chain leadership to monitor production costs and improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Provide insights into product margins, cost drivers, and operational performance.
  • Perform detailed financial and operational analysis to support decision-making across manufacturing, supply chain, and commercial teams.
  • Provide variance analysis (actual vs. budget) and explain key drivers impacting financial performance.
  • Analyze product profitability, operational costs, and margin trends.
  • Deliver actionable financial insights to support operational improvements and business growth.
  • Maintain the financial integrity of the ERP system and ensure accurate accounting data within the system.
  • Support improvements to financial reporting and operational data through effective use of ERP systems.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and visibility across accounting functions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within finance and accounting operations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and support professional development within the finance team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Strong experience in manufacturing and cost accounting environments required.
  • Proven success managing and developing high-performing accounting teams required.
  • Proven ability to perform detailed financial and operational analysis.
  • ERP experience preferred.
