Job summary

Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center is seeking a Corporate Compliance and Risk Auditor to join the Compliance team. The role partners with departments to conduct audits, assess risks, and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies.

You will identify compliance gaps, recommend practical improvements, and support a culture of integrity and accountability. The ideal candidate will bring auditing, analytical, and communication skills and thrive in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Law, Business, or related field.
  • 2+ years corporate compliance in healthcare, or 4+ years in healthcare admin/governance.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations and state/federal laws.
  • Experience researching and applying healthcare laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to analyze claims, billing, and encounter data for compliance issues.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational, analytical, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build cross-level relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Arrange and schedule department meetings and compile data.
  • Assist Chief Corporate Compliance & Risk Officer in overseeing the program.
  • Review OIG and compliance info; provide summary data and action plans.
  • Develop internal annual Corporate Compliance Work Plan.
  • Maintain awareness of federal and state health care laws.
  • Assist risk officer and risk management director in regular risk assessments.
  • Prepare reports for the CS-HHC Board of Directors.
  • Conduct monthly Environment of Care rounding with locations.
  • Prepare reports and present findings from EOC rounding.
  • Educate staff on Corporate Compliance policies.
  • Review and analyze patient records for accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with Operations leadership to review practices for safety.
  • Assist in review and analysis of incident reports.
  • Conduct quarterly patient and employee focus groups and develop reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

About The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive Corporate Compliance and Risk Auditor to join our Compliance team. Reporting to the Chief Corporate Compliance & Risk Officer, this role partners with departments across the organization to conduct compliance audits, perform comprehensive risk assessments, and help ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and industry standards.

The ideal candidate is a critical thinker with strong auditing, analytical, and communication skills who thrives in a collaborative environment. This position plays a key role in identifying compliance gaps, evaluating operational risks, and recommending practical solutions that strengthen internal controls, reduce organizational risk, and support a culture of integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Arranges and schedules meetings and appointments for the department and compiles and coordinates data as required.
  • Assists the Chief Corporate Compliance & Risk Officer in the oversight of the organization’s corporate compliance program.
  • Reviews OIG and other Compliance related information on a regular basis and provides the Chief Corporate Compliance & Risk Officer with summary data and action plan when indicated.
  • Assists the Chief Corporate Compliance & Risk Officer in developing an internal annual Corporate Compliance Work Plan that identifies potential compliance risk areas as well as incorporates initiatives outlined in the OIG Work Plan.
  • Maintains strong awareness of federal and state health care laws and regulations through personal initiative, seminars, training programs and peer contact.
  • Assists the Chief Compliance & Risk Officer and the Director of Risk Management conducting regular risk assessments and follow-ups as required.
  • Assist the Chief Corporate Compliance & Risk Officer in preparing reports for the CS-HHC Board of Directors.
  • Conducts monthly Environment of Care (EOC) rounding at all CS-HHC locations in collaboration with the EOC committee.
  • Prepares reports and presents findings from the EOC rounding process to appropriate management and leadership.
  • Educates CS-HHC staff on Corporate Compliance and Risk policies and procedures in areas of non-compliance.
  • Reviews and analyzes patient medical records and billing documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory and state requirements.
  • Collaborates with Operations leadership in reviewing operational practices to ensure safety among patients and staff.
  • Assists the Director of Risk and Patient Advocacy in the review, follow-up, and analysis of all CS-HHC incident reports.
  • Conducts quarterly patient and employee focus groups with patients and staff from all CS-HHC locations and develops reports to be presented to management.
  • Perform other, related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Law, Business, or a related field from an accredited college or university required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of corporate compliance experience in a healthcare setting or four (4) years of experience in healthcare administration, law, corporate governance, risk management, or corporate compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, nonprofit compliance, and applicable state and federal laws.
  • Experience researching, interpreting, and applying healthcare laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to analyze claims, billing, encounter, and other operational data to identify compliance issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational, analytical, and report-writing skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build collaborative relationships with employees at all organizational levels while maintaining professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment.
  • Primarily sedentary position requiring extended periods of sitting, computer use, and occasional lifting of up to 5 pounds.
  • Occasional overtime and travel throughout Connecticut may be required to meet business needs and deadlines.
