Job summary

Foothills Bank is seeking a BSA/AML Investigator to monitor and investigate high-risk customers within the BSA/AML/CFT Department. The investigator prepares QARs, documents findings in HRCR, updates the DDM review module, and ensures compliance with policy.

This corporate position may be located in any division across our nine-state footprint. Entry rate starts at $18.82 per hour in Kalispell, MT, with adjustments for location, experience, and education.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required in business, intelligence, accounting, finance, law, criminology, or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in same fields.

Responsibilities

• Investigates and dispositions HRCRs as assigned by supervisor, performs case investigations, and achieves target goals set by the BSA Officer.
• Conducts initial determinations and may prepare QARs, notify divisions of missing documentation, and report high risk activity to supervisor or CBSAT team members.
• Communicates findings in written and verbal form with supervisor and the BSA team, including remote bank employees.
• Attends BSA team meetings and completes required online training courses with passing scores by the due date.
• Complies with all company policies, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

About The Role

The BSA/AML Investigator reports to the Corporate EDD Supervisor and is responsible for the monitoring and investigation of High Risk Customers within the BSA/AML/CFT Department in accordance with the Bank’s policies and procedures. The investigator prepares Questionable Activity Referrals based on findings from assigned investigations and documents findings in the HRCR review folder, updates the DDM review module, and completes the review in compliance with policy.

This is a Corporate position which may be located in an available bank division across our nine-state footprint in AZ, CO, ID, MT, NV, TX, UT, WA, or WY.

Entry rate starts at $18.82 per hour in Kalispell, MT, adjusted for location, experience, and education.

WA Applicants Only: Spokane, WA range $21.01 to $31.53 an hour. Wenatchee, WA range $21.31 to $31.97 an hour.

About You

Education

• Required: Associate Degree in Business, Intelligence Studies, Accounting, Finance, Law, Criminology, or related field.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Intelligence Studies, Accounting, Finance, Law, Criminology, or related field.

Experience

• Required: 3 years of banking experience in branch or back‑office operations, compliance, audit, lending, or a related function.
• Required: 1 year of investigation experience in law enforcement, security, fraud, or anti‑money‑laundering.
• Advanced or specialized knowledge of general bank products and services, especially in a community banking environment.
• Knowledge of BSA/AML regulations, suspicious activity for money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, and relevant red‑flag typologies.
• Preferred: Experience using Excel for data review and analysis, including Pivot Tables and Macros.

License or Certification

None required.

Working Conditions
