Job summary

SmartStop Self Storage is hiring a Corporate Accountant for our Ladera Ranch, CA headquarters. You will prepare financial reports and support month-end, variance analysis, and audits, ensuring accuracy across ledgers and schedules.

The role demands 1–3 years in accounting, a relevant degree, and hands-on service in a fast-paced environment with strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration required.
• Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in Public Accounting and/or private company accounting experience.
• Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
• Understanding of GAAP.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Be detailed oriented while multi‑tasking in a fast‑paced company.
• Must be hands‑on and work effectively in a demanding environment.
• Be able to adapt quickly to change.

Responsibilities

• Performs general accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.
• Assists with preparing monthly financial statement consolidation and quarterly financial statement packages for senior management.
• Coordinates and reviews monthly reporting from property accountants.
• Produces journal entries, account reconciliations, and other general accounting duties.
• Maintains the general ledger.
• Prepares supplemental financial schedules.
• Assists in the preparation of internal reports for variance analysis.
• Assists with external financial statement audits.
• Assists with Treasury management.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Salary: starting at $95,000 depending on experience + annual discretionary bonus.

Location: 100% on-site at our Ladera Ranch, CA headquarters.

Corporate Accountant Job Summary

The Corporate Accountant will prepare financial reports to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
