Job summary

CHI St. Vincent seeks a Coronary Care - Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN) to care for patients with acute and critical heart conditions. You will monitor unstable patients after PCI, CHF, or major surgery and assist in procedures per the care plan.

CCU nurses work closely with physicians and support staff, manage equipment, respond to emergencies, and advocate for patients. The role requires multitasking, vigilance, and sound judgment in rapid situations with advancement opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Registered Nurse license in good standing (AR or compact state) prior to start.
  • 12 months of acute care experience (residency for new grads)
  • Cardiac and/or ICU experience strongly preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) within 30 days; Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, plans, and implements nursing care while ensuring patient comfort.
  • Anticipates, identifies, and responds to informational and emotional needs of patients and families.
  • Guides and directs healthcare personnel in caring for patients.
  • Maintains knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use (IV pumps, monitoring equipment, drainage devices, temp pacer, CRRT, SWAN, Impella).
  • Initiates emergency support measures (CPR) during emergencies.
  • Assists with patient care duties/tasks (ambulating, hygiene, etc.).

Monitor patients who are critically ill and unstable following PCI, CHF(new onset or exacerbation), extensive injury, surgery, or life‑threatening disease.

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our Coronary Care - Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN) at CHI St Vincent, you will specialize in the care of patients with acute and critical heart conditions. Monitor patients who are critically ill and unstable following PCI, CHF(new onset or exacerbation), extensive injury, surgery, or life‑threatening disease.

CCU nurses are highly skilled professionals who play a vital role in the care of patients with serious heart conditions. You’ll provide continued care and perform procedures as detailed in the care plan. This could mean assisting a physician with a chest tube or central line, monitoring hemodynamically unstable patients with Impella, CRRT, Temp pacer, ensuring patients MRI or CT, or administering critical medications.

To thrive in this role, you’ll heavily depend on your ability to multitask and anticipate care needs in a face paced environment. You’ll clinically care for your patients- remaining focused and attentive as you continuously monitor your patients throughout your shift. You also serve as their advocate- supporting their best interests when they cannot. However, it’s your sound judgment during an emergency and rapid response are impressive which puts you on the radar for advancement.

  • Maintains knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use (i.e., IV pumps, monitoring equipment, drainage devices, temp pacer, CRRT, SWAN, Impella. ) Utilizes safeguards such as IV pump drug library and monitor alarms with necessary
  • Initiates emergency support measures (i.e., cardiopulmonary resuscitation, protecting patient from injury)
  • Assists with patient care duties/tasks (i.e., emptying drainage devices, ambulating, and hygiene)

We are offering a sign on bonus up to $25,000 to hires who meet the eligibility requirements. We also offer additional pay for participation in our clinical ladder as well as referral bonuses, excellent benefits, tuition reimbursement and relocation assistance.

Job Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing., upon hire
  • Registered Nurse license in good standing, State of Arkansas or compact state license required prior to start date
  • 12 months of acute care experience (new graduates or nurses who have never worked in an acute care setting are hired through our residency training program)
  • Previous Cardiac and/or ICU experience strongly preferred
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, within 30 days and
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 12 months
