Qualifications

• Sophomore or higher in a college or university program; exceptional Freshman may be considered.
• Candidates studying Plant Breeding, Genetics, Plant Pathology, Agronomy or Plant Science will be considered.
• Must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Farm background helpful but not required.
• Safety sensitive position; pre-employment screenings apply.

Responsibilities

• Assist Breeding team with notes on inbreds and observations of inbred testing and plots.
• Assist pollination of corn breeding nurseries and detasseling top cross plots.
• Learn plant growth, development monitoring and stand counts; collect agronomic data.
• Learn plant pathology aspects and seed preparation for test plots and nurseries.
• Travel with Beck’s staff to outlying locations to plant test plots and observe breeding programs.
• Perform other duties for Beck’s Breeding team as needed.
