Position: Core Technician
Location: Beatty, Nevada
Employment Type: Full-Time, Contract

About the Role

We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as Core Technicians in Beatty, Nevada. Core Technicians play a critical role in supporting mineral exploration programs by handling, processing, and preparing drill core samples for geological logging, sampling, and laboratory analysis. This is a hands‑on, physical position that requires accuracy, teamwork, and a strong commitment to safety.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in the mining industry, with potential for progression into advanced technical roles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Core Handling & Processing

    • Receive, wash, and layout drill core delivered to the core shed.

    • Inspect for discrepancies and ensure proper box order and labeling.

    • Assist with cutting, sampling, bagging, and tagging core for lab submission.

    • Photograph and archive drill core for digital records.

  • Geotechnical Measurements & Data Support

    • Perform routine measurements such as RQD, hardness, magnetic susceptibility, density, and other physical property tests.

    • Enter data accurately into logs and spreadsheets.

    • Maintain consistency and quality in data collection following established procedures.

  • Sampling & QA/QC

    • Prepare and verify sample tags and bags.

    • Follow chain-of-custody procedures for lab shipments.

    • Support QA/QC standards under the supervision of Lead Technicians or Geologists.

  • Field & Site Support (as needed)

    • Assist with drill support tasks such as GPS collar point collection, soil sampling support, and site logistics.

    • Maintain communication with drill crews, leads, and geologists.

  • Safety & Teamwork

    • Follow all site safety protocols and use PPE appropriately.

    • Keep core shed and work areas clean and organized (5S standards).

    • Work effectively within a team to meet daily production goals.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Previous core shed, mining, or construction/labor experience preferred, but not required—training provided.

  • Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks including lifting core boxes (50+ lbs), standing, bending, and working outdoors in variable conditions.

  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and willingness to learn.

  • Reliable transportation to/from Beatty, NV.

Schedule & Compensation
  • Typical shifts: 10 hours per day, Wed- Wed 8 days on - 6 days off (may vary by project).

  • Competitive hourly wage (DOE).

  • Overtime opportunities available.
