Job summary

Ford Motor Company seeks a global authority for Assembly manufacturing processes within Supplier Technical Assistance. You will lead the industrialization of cutting‑edge technologies and standardize the technical competency of the global STA team.

Travel 50-75% to support regional and worldwide responsibilities, mentor teams, and collaborate with Product Development on design for manufacturing feasibility for Assembly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science/Engineering in a closely related discipline.
  • Strong background in Assembly Processes and Craftsmanship including fastening systems, material dispense, press fit, testing, and vision systems.
  • Proficient English for global collaboration.
  • Willingness to travel regionally and globally approximately 50-75% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a Global lead for Assembly manufacturing processes.
  • Drives deployment of Ford assembly standards, lessons learned, best practices, and tech innovations.
  • Leads Manufacturing Risk Assessments and supports industrialization of New Technologies within Assembly.
  • Drives regional business plans for the Assembly process area.
  • Conducts manufacturing process assessments for Assembly based on a priority model.
  • Keeps informed on Assembly tech developments through benchmarking.
  • Develops and delivers technical training for Assembly standards and new tech.
  • Solves special process issues (Stop Ships, Field Actions) within Assembly.
  • Interfaces with Product Development for design for manufacturing input for Assembly.
  • Travel regionally and globally as needed to support responsibilities.

In this position...

You will serve as the global authority for Assembly manufacturing processes within Supplier Technical Assistance. Your mission is twofold: to drive excellence across our supply chain and to standardize the technical competency of the global STA team. You will lead the industrialization of cutting‑edge technologies and ensure that every member of the STA organization is equipped with the knowledge to enforce Ford’s rigorous assembly standards.

What you will do...
  • Acts as a Global lead for Assembly manufacturing processes.
  • Drives Prevent Recurrence by deploying Ford manufacturing process standards, lessons learned, best practices, and technical innovations related to Assembly.
  • Leads Manufacturing Risk Assessment and supports the industrialization of New Technologies within Assembly processes, utilizing the GTDS process.
  • Drives the regional business plan for their special manufacturing process area (Assembly).
  • Conducts manufacturing process assessments specifically for Assembly, driven by a priority model.
  • Keeps abreast of technical developments in Assembly manufacturing technologies through benchmarking processes, methods, and equipment.
  • Develops and delivers technical training materials and plans for Assembly standards, assessments, and advanced/new technologies.
  • Demonstrates special process technical problem‑solving for significant quality issues (e.g., Stop Ships, Field Actions), production supply, or warranty concerns (aligned with the Balanced Single Agenda for Quality) pertaining to Assembly.
  • Interfaces with Product Development to provide design for manufacturing feasibility input for Assembly.
  • Travels throughout the region, and globally as necessary, to support responsibilities.
You'll have ...
  • Bachelor of Science/Engineering, or academic equivalent, in a closely related technical discipline.
  • Strong background in Assembly Processes and Craftsmanship including: Fastening Systems, Material Dispense, Press Fit Systems, Testing (Leak and EOL), and Vision Systems
  • Proficiency in English is required for effective communication with global teams.
  • Strong knowledge of Problem Solving and Quality Tools.
  • Ability to travel throughout the region, and globally as necessary, to support responsibilities approximately 50-75% of the time.

  • Approximately 8 years of experience in manufacturing process(es), with a strong focus on Assembly.
  • Knowledge of Ford vehicle or powertrain development and launch processes.
  • Demonstrated initiative and capability to provide technical leadership to peers and management to assure the delivery of product programs.
  • Advanced problem‑solving skills
  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
  • Ability to lead a team in the delivery of technical objectives.
