Google is seeking a Software Engineer III, Core Security to help build the Admin Access Platform's dynamic policy engine. Based in Chicago, IL, you will work on redefining Google's security posture, scale policy engines for massive growth, and collaborate with SREs to ensure reliability at Alphabet-scale.

The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, strong coding/design skills, and mentoring junior engineers as part of a mid-level team.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of programming experience in Java.
2 years of experience in coding and system design with one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, C/C++, Python).
2 years of experience with code optimization.

Responsibilities

Architect new novel access controls in lockstep with security teams to redefine Google's security posture.
Scale our policy engine to outpace explosive global growth and stay ahead of emerging threats.
Manage engineering analysis tooling that empowers decision-makers to visualize and master the impact of access policy shifts before they even hit production.
Partner with SREs to harden our platform, ensuring unparalleled reliability and health at Alphabet-scale.
Partner closely with teams that must interact with end users on our behalf to help them navigate access challenges.
