Job summary

What you will contribute

As a tech lead on the Data Platform team you will play a key role in the development of the underlying technology that powers all of Hum’s financial insights and analytics. The products you help develop will be used by company CEOs/CFOs, investors and quantitative analysts to make critical capital allocation decisions - underscoring the importance of observability and correctness in the systems you build. You will report directly to the CTO and be instrumental in providing technical leadership across the engineering organization.

Some of the things you will do:

• Work closely with Hum’s product team and end-users to build mission-critical analysis layers that optimize for correctness, transparency, and speed using Rust and Python.
• Come up with technical solutions to ingest, store, and transform large amounts of heterogeneous financial data sets
• Solve complex data governance problems such as data quality and integrity, data lineage, access controls, auditing, handling of sensitive data, and user-friendly catalogs
• Influence the way the engineering team works and communicates together by improving our engineering processes
• Work on a cross functional team that includes engineers, quants, investors, and data scientists
• Implement secure, scalable features on top of AWS

Who you are

• 5+ years of Software engineering experience with strong computer science fundamentals (BS, MS, Phd or equivalent)
• Experience in or willingness to learn Rust
• Familiarity working with technologies like DBT, Airbyte, Airflow, Python, and Pandas
• You’ve shipped an end-to-end product and understand how to build high-quality software in a complex, fast-moving startup environment.
• Experience working on, or are interested in learning about and solving, hard financial problems
