Job summary

Qualifications

• CMA/RMA/CCMA certification/registration required within 6 months of hire OR credentialed through a formal training program that includes testing of knowledge.
• BLS certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical duties such as pre-visit work, obtaining vital signs, providing medication reconciliation, and assisting provider in examinations and/or procedures.
• Clean and prepare instruments for sterilization; ensure exam rooms are cleaned and stocked.
• Respond to patient portal messages on the same day following standard work procedures.
• Complete pre-visit work, close gaps in care, administer vaccines, and complete prescription refills.
• May schedule pre-admission and diagnostic testing and place follow-up calls to patients after surgery.
• Perform daily administrative duties: greeting/check in/out, scheduling, phones, messages, charts, filing, and financial tasks.
• Maintain adherence to Core policies, patient confidentiality, safety, infection control; participate in daily huddle.
• Scribing duties may be performed; document encounters; order labs, make referrals, and order prescriptions as advised.
• Monitor care team metrics to evaluate improvement and outcomes.

Provide support to the practice in the functional areas of clerical, clinical and business under the direct supervision of a Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or Physician.

Major Responsibilities:

• a. Perform clinical duties such as pre-visit work, obtaining vital signs, providing medication reconciliation, and assisting provider in examinations and/or procedures.
• b. Clean and prepare instruments for sterilization as required. Ensures exam rooms are cleaned and stocked.
• c. Following standard work procedures, and messaging policy, respond to patient phone portal message on the same day.
• d. Use standing protocols to complete pre visit work, close gaps in care, administrate vaccines, and complete prescription refills.
• e. May schedule pre-admission and diagnostic testing and place follow up calls to patients after surgery.
• f. May perform any of the following daily administrative duties of the practice: greeting/check in/check out, scheduling patients, answering telephones, taking messages, organizing patient charts, filing, pulling and copying patient records, collection of co pays and patient balances, post payment and adjustment transactions, and balance daily journal.
• g. Maintains and adheres to established Core policies and procedures and federal regulations, including, patient confidentiality, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control standards; responsible for participating in the daily huddle and completing any actions required and working as a member of the care team to ensure proper communication between all team members
• h. In some practices, the MA may perform scribing duties; accompany provider into patient examination room and accurately and efficiently document the encounter; order any labs, make referrals, and order prescriptions that have been recommended by the provider.
• i. Responsible for monitoring care team metrics to evaluate improvement metrics & outcome.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Required:

Pay Range:

$20.00 - $29.49

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
