Job summary

Oregon Health & Science University seeks a qualified Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform testing across Transfusion Service, Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Body Fluids and limited Microbiology. Independent handling of specimens, reporting results, and adherence to procedures is essential.

Candidates should have MT/MLS certification (ASCP) or AMT preferred, with relevant generalist experience, and the ability to work in a busy lab environment in Portland, OR.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology or related field with MT/MLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Or completion of a 2-year MLT program with MT/MLS within 90 days of hire and 4 years clinical lab experience.
• OR Bachelor's in Chemical/Biological field with 4 years as MLT in a clinical lab.

Responsibilities

• Performs testing in Core Laboratory and Transfusion Servies with accuracy, speed and efficiency.
• Prepares samples, decides acceptability, repeats analysis as needed, reports results.
• Calibrates, maintains and troubleshoots laboratory instruments and procedures.
• Evaluates quality control data to ensure instrument and procedure functionality.
• Other duties as assigned.
