Core Lab Automation Specialist - Night Shift

Position Summary / Career Interest:
The Core Lab Automation Specialist maximizes the utility and use of the automation line, connected instruments and software in the Core Lab. The Core Lab Automation Specialist collaborates with vendors, users, and other lab stakeholders to ensure automation equipment is operating appropriately.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

  • Develops and refines automation rules.
  • Maximizes the use of automation line and lab software to eliminate manual workflows, including testing and documentation.
  • Coordinates the resolution of automation line issues that involve hardware and line connections.
  • Ensures connected instruments are performing appropriately including but not limited to IA, chemistry, hematology and coagulation analyzers.
  • Utilizes advanced middleware troubleshooting skills ensuring test rules work properly and instrument connectivity is maintained.
  • Performs server reboots, as necessary.
  • Creates new tests and associated rules in the middleware and the line controller software.
  • Assists the LIS department in troubleshooting interface and downloading issues as well as changes in tests.
  • Acts as a liaison with vendors to coordinate service, develop troubleshooting techniques, and serve as a point of contact.
  • Provides troubleshooting support to staff.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience

  • 2 or more years experience in a clinical lab setting

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science Biological, Chemical, Physical or lab science field.
  • 1 or more years core lab automation experience

Required Licensure and Certification

  • Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP) AMT, ABB or equivalent certification.

Required Language Skills

  • Fluent English - Must be able to read, write and speak English

Knowledge Requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have excellent telephone, verbal and written communication skills.
