Job summary

Cavender’s is seeking a Copywriter Intern to support the Marketing team by creating brand-aligned product and website copy. You will collaborate with Marketing, Ecommerce, Merchandising, and other departments to develop engaging content that reflects Cavender’s authentic brand voice.

This internship offers real responsibilities, the chance to build a professional portfolio, and exposure to campaigns from conception through publish.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, PR, Advertising or related field.
  • Exceptional written communication with strong grammar and proofreading.
  • Ability to adapt writing style for different audiences and channels.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to translate ideas into engaging content.
  • Open to feedback and revising work per direction.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Support Cavender’s Culture and drive Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Write and edit copy for product pages and customer-facing content on Cavenders.com.
  • Proofread for grammar, spelling, consistency, and brand standards.
  • Collaborate with e-commerce and marketing teams to develop product copy.
  • Research products, trends, competitors, and customer insights to strengthen messaging.
  • Maintain consistent brand voice across customer and employee touchpoints.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas for campaigns.
  • Organize and manage multiple writing assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Assist with content audits and updates to existing descriptions.
  • Ensure materials are accurate, on time, and aligned with marketing objectives.
  • Attend meetings and assist with special projects as assigned.

Job description

The Copywriter Intern supports the Marketing team by creating compelling, brand-aligned written product and website copy. The Copywriter Intern collaborates with Marketing, Ecommerce, Merchandising, and other departments to produce engaging content that reflects the Cavender’s brand voice. This role reports to the Sr. Copywriter and Product Copywriter and offers the opportunity to build a professional portfolio while contributing to meaningful business initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support the “Cavender’s Culture” and drive our Mission, Vision, and Values
  • Assist in writing and editing copy for product pages, and customer-facing copy on Cavenders.com.
  • Proofread content for grammar, spelling, consistency, and brand standards.
  • Collaborate with e-commerce and marketing team members to develop compelling product copy.
  • Research products, industry trends, competitors, and customer insights to strengthen messaging.
  • Help maintain a consistent brand voice across all customer and employee touchpoints.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Advertising, or a related field.
  • Exceptional written communication skills with strong grammar, spelling, and proofreading abilities.
  • Ability to adapt writing style for different audiences and communication channels.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to translate ideas into engaging content.
  • Comfortable receiving feedback and revising work based on direction.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • High integrity with the ability to represent Cavender’s in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Passion for storytelling, branding, and creative writing.
Preferred Skills
  • Previous writing experience through coursework, internships, campus organizations, freelance work, or personal portfolio.
  • Familiarity with AP Style or other professional writing standards.
  • Understanding of SEO content writing and digital marketing best practices.
  • Interest in retail, fashion, western lifestyle, or consumer brands.
  • Experience using Asana, ChatGPT, Excel or other creative or project management tools is a plus.
  • Strong collaboration, time management, and project organization skills.
  • Self-starter with curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
