Job summary

BioMedical Services, Inc. is hiring a Purchasing Coordinator to support Materials Management and the supply chain. You will assist requisitioners, resolve issues with suppliers, and confirm POs, ensuring timely deliveries and backorder resolution.

You will work with Receiving and Accounting to monitor transactions and improve delivery performance. You should have at least one year of office experience, knowledge of MMIS/EDI, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • AA degree preferred; hospital purchasing experience preferred.
  • At least one year general office experience.
  • Knowledge of equipment, supplies and policies & procedures.
  • Familiarity with computer-based inventory systems.
  • Ability to use MMIS and EDI systems.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.

Responsibilities

  • Assist requisitioners and hospital staff in procurement of goods and services.
  • Identify, research, analyze and resolve purchasing issues with departments and suppliers.
  • Communicate with managers regarding discrepancies, pricing, substitutes and backorders.
  • Confirm purchase orders with outside vendors and expedite problem orders.
  • Coordinate with Receiving and Accounting on materials and transactions.
  • Monitor delivery expectations and communicate delays; expedite deliveries when needed.
  • Review inventory order patterns and quantities; maintain relationships across departments.
  • Prioritize duties for optimum productivity; perform other related duties.

Overview

Responsibilities

The Purchasing Coordinator (PC) provides a variety of support functions within the Materials Management/Supply Chain departments. Assist the requisitioners and other hospital staff in the procurement of goods and services for internal and external customers. PCs identify, research, analyze and resolve purchasing issues with other departments and suppliers. Must be able to communicate with department managers regarding discrepancies, pricing, substitutes and backorders. Confirm purchase orders (PO) with outside vendors. Following through with problem orders to ensure that they deliver in a timely manner. Work with various departments including Receiving and Accounting on problematic materials or transactions. Continuous monitoring of delivery expectations for all incoming materials and internal communication of delays. Works with suppliers to expedite and improve delivery performance. Review inventory order patterns and quantities. Maintain open communication and effective working relationships with all departments. Ability to communicate written and verbally in a professional manner with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts. Prioritize duties for optimum productivity. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  • 1. High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • 2. AA Degree preferred
  • 3. Previous hospital purchasing experience preferred
  • 4. Minimum of one-year of general office experience
  • 5. Knowledge involving the acquisition of equipment, supplies and policies & procedures
  • 6. Knowledge of computer-based inventory systems
  • 7. Ability to utilize Material Management Information system (MMIS) and EDI
  • 8. Strong communication skills

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $16.06 to $23.26.
