Overview

Position Title: Coordinator of Professional Development and Training

Classification: RSAA - Range 5

Reports To: Assistant Superintendent for School Improvement

Supervises: Various support personnel within areas of responsibility

Position Goal: To support the planning, coordination, implementation, and tracking of district-wide professional development and training activities for professional, paraprofessional and operational staff. The Coordinator of Professional Development and Training works collaboratively with district directors, school principals, and other stakeholders to ensure that training opportunities are organized, communicated, and implemented effectively in alignment with district priorities and compliance requirements.

Qualifications
  • Minimum three (3) years of successful educational experience; experience in instructional leadership, professional development coordination, or school administration preferred.
  • Master's Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field preferred.
  • Appropriate Pennsylvania certification required.
  • Experience in an urban school district is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of professional development processes, adult learning practices, and training coordination.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple events, schedules, and timelines simultaneously.
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with district administrators, school leaders, staff, and outside vendors/providers.
  • Proficiency in technology platforms used for scheduling, communication, documentation, and tracking professional development activities
Essential Functions
  • Coordinates and supports district-wide professional development and training activities across instructional, operational, and administrative departments in collaboration with school and district leaders.
  • Collaborates with district directors, school administrators and other stakeholders to identify training needs and support the delivery of effective learning opportunities for staff, including, but not limited to: teachers, administrators, paraprofessionals, clerks, safe schools guards, etc.
  • Assists with the scheduling and logistical planning of professional development sessions, including locations, dates, times, materials, and participant communication.
  • Serves as a liaison between schools, departments, presenters, and outside vendors to ensure training activities are organized and implemented efficiently.
  • Assists in maintaining the District's professional development calendar and communicates updates to stakeholders as needed.
  • Supports the implementation of district and school-based professional development initiatives aligned to district goals and school improvement efforts.
  • Coordinates operational details related to professional development activities, including contracts, agreements, purchase requests, timesheets, stipends, board agenda items, and related documentation.
  • Maintains records and electronic databases related to professional development participation, attendance, and completed hours.
  • Assists with the monitoring of compliance requirements related to professional development and continuing education obligations under PDE regulations.
  • Assists with organizing professional learning opportunities including workshops, conferences, PLCs, online learning, and district training events.
  • Supports onboarding and training activities for new employees as assigned.
  • Prepares reports, correspondence, agendas, presentations, and other materials related to professional development activities.
  • Assists in monitoring budgets and expenditures related to professional development and training activities.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with staff, administrators, and external partners.
  • Performs such other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for School Improvement, Superintendent of Schools, or designee.
Terms of Employment

Full-time (12-month) exempt position. Salary and benefits consistent with the District's approved Compensation and Benefits Plan and/or individual contract.
