The District of Columbia Public Schools Office of Operations is seeking a Coordinator, Modernizations to lead school modernization projects across DCPS. Modernizations(formerly called FPD) teamis one of two teams within the Facilities Planning and Design division under the Office of Operations. Together, we oversee all modernization, addition and expansion projects, plan for andidentifyproject needs for the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), and collaborate with schools, contractors, and DGS to ensure DCPS facilities are safe, functional, and ready for learning.
SmallCapital Projects(SCP)team is one of two teams within the Facilities Planning and Design division under the Office of Operations. Together, we oversee all small capital projects, planforandidentifyproject needs for the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), and collaborate with schools, contractors, and DGS to ensure DCPS facilities are safe, functional, and ready for learning.
The Office of Operations (OOO) works with the Chancellor to align resources across the organization through innovation and continuous improvement. Our goal is to initiate change and lead DC Public Schools into the highest performing school district in the nation. The Coordinator, Modernizations will be the point person for the school and the community throughout the modernization process. The Coordinator will be assigned to multiple school projects where they will manage the day-to-day functions of the project-specific workgroups, represent Facilities Planning and Design, and facilitate the School Improvement Team (SIT) meetings. The Coordinator is responsible for coordinating project-specific meetings and facilitating SIT meetings with the goal to build relationships with school leadership and communities to support school modernization and addition projects. This collaboration will be critical to the planning and design of each modernization and addition effort. The Coordinator will work closely with school leadership, the Department of General Services (DGS), and DCPS central office to manage project-specific tasks and implement the DCPS SIT framework.
This position has been designated as Safety Sensitive. Pursuant to section 410 of Chapter 4 of the D.C. Personnel Regulations; in addition to the general suitability screening, individuals applying for or occupying safety sensitive positions are subject to the following checks and tests: Criminal background check; Sex Offender Registry check; Pre-employment drug and alcohol test; Traffic record check (as applicable); Reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol test; and Post-accident or incident drug and alcohol test.

Aids the development of the school specific Educational Specification for each modernization project; this document will drive the design for the modernization.
Works closely with the school leadership to manage the School Improvement Team (SIT) to plan and design the school modernization.
Works with the Director, Modernizations on inter-departmental coordination with other DCPS Central Office departments to ensure the site-specific programmatic vision is reflected in the project.
Serves as the face of the modernization project to community and ensures communication is clear and transparent.
Develops and maintains relationships with key stakeholders in school modernizations.
Develops effective methods to receive input and communicate project updates to the SIT on the planning, design, and construction of the modernization projects.
Works with the Director, Modernizations to manage the School Improvement Team's (SIT) meetings by facilitating the meetings, developing agendas, meeting materials, and minutes; and coordinates all follow-up actions from the SIT meetings.
Participates in project meetings with the Department of General Services (DGS) and the DCPS Facility Modernization team to stay up to date on the project design and implementation.
Provides project updates to the DCPS Facility Initiatives team and the Office of the Chief Operating Officer.
