Job summary

Ball Corporation is seeking a Maintenance Planner to drive operational excellence by supporting preventive maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution across the plant. You will leverage ERP tools to standardize maintenance data, manage work orders, and promote continuous improvement with the maintenance team.

Ideal candidates bring 3+ years in manufacturing maintenance, experience with CMMS/JDE/SAP, and strong Excel/ERP literacy.

Qualifications

  • Broad training in a related field usually through high school education or equivalent experience.
  • Manufacturing/Industrial Maintenance experience for 3 years minimum.
  • Experience with Ball Systems including Maintenance software (CMMS) or ERP (JDE, SAP) or equivalent qualifications.
  • Ability to apply standard evaluation and modification of manufacturing procedures.
  • Ability to learn equipment and quality standards and perform basic math.

Responsibilities

  • Works with maintenance software for setup, management and reporting of maintenance activities.
  • Reviews work orders daily to identify missed or incomplete tasks and informs responsible personnel.
  • Runs daily preventive maintenance compliance report and notifies crew and management.
  • Standardizes P1 Notification order naming to enable better searches.
  • Meets with management to review severity of P1 orders and updates as needed.
  • Creates new PM work orders in JDE including service types, instructions, schedules.

Primary Purpose Of The Position

Drives operational excellence by supporting the planning, management, and execution of standardized and comprehensive maintenance activities. Drives consistency of preventive maintenance data and scheduling using the equipment maintenance functionality in the ERP software, and promotes a continuous improvement culture by coordinating maintenance day activities along with identifying gaps and opportunities in maintenance management.

Essential Responsible
  • Works extensively with the equipment maintenance software for setup, management and reporting of all equipment maintenance activities.
  • Reviews maintenance work orders daily to determine if any work orders from the present shift have been missed or not completed. Notifies responsible personnel of deficiencies.
  • Runs daily preventive maintenance compliance report for noncompliant work orders, sends email to the crew responsible for the work order and appropriate management.
  • Reviews P1 Notification orders and makes the necessary standardization changes to the naming of the notification to simplify future searches.
  • Meets with management to review severity and prioritize P1 Notification orders and makes updates as needed.
  • Add, remove or change work order text to support risk assessment (spreadsheet) and provides information to the EHS manager for review and reassessment for potential risk in preforming the task.
  • Creates new preventive maintenance work orders as needed in JDE which includes creating service types, task instructions, model work orders and PM schedules.
  • Documents work order creations or changes by maintaining the JDE master tracker for preventive maintenance work orders and task instructions printed for use in the plant.
  • Runs M&R Report and reviews cost by equipment for any heavy hitters and identifies potential cost saving opportunities.
  • Creates spreadsheet with required parts for a maintenance day and provides it to storeroom team members to ensure parts will be available 2 weeks prior to the maintenance day and/or contact purchasing to make sure parts are available before maintenance day.
  • Assists in creating SOPs for maintenance.
  • Trains team members how to use JDE equipment maintenance functionality.
  • May assist in establishing, reviewing and monitoring M&R budgets.
Position Requirement, Education, & Competencies
  • Broad training in a related field usually acquired through high school education or equivalent experience.
  • Manufacturing/Industrial Maintenance job related experience for 3-year minimum.
  • Experience with Ball Systems including Maintenance software (CMMS) or ERP (JDE, SAP) or equivalent external qualifications
  • Ability to apply standard evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard manufacturing and plant quality techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Ability to learn operating principles and nomenclature of all assigned equipment, products and quality standards.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to organize, plan, prioritize, pay attention to details and willingly perform other duties/individual assignments as management may direct meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to handle sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner.
  • Must follow company policies, procedures, practices, and standards of conduct as outlined in the Ball Corporation manuals.
  • Maintains an awareness of and complies with hazardous waste management and other environmental management requirements in the workplace by attending scheduled training sessions.
  • This position is exposed to a manufacturing environment with occupational hazards, including but not limited to, high noise levels, physical obstacles, exposure to chemicals, etc.
  • Working knowledge of the following areas:
  • Use of PC, and operating systems, Excel, Word, Power Point in some cases and Email.
  • Maintenance software (CMMS) or ERP (JDE, SAP) experience a plus.
  • Must be willing to learn the JD Edwards system- Maintenance system.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Expected Hiring Salary Range:$59,100 - $82,530 (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
  • This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.

  • Onsite Work Environment:This requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site. Travel and local commute between Ball locations and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
