Job summary

Summary: The Maintenance Specialist role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and clarity of maintenance- and operations-related documentation. They review technical documents, provide structured feedback, and maintain organized records to support reliable and compliant maintenance practices. In addition, they assist with planning and executing changeovers by organizing and kitting required parts, as well as maintaining and troubleshooting small pieces of equipment to support continuous operations. This role contributes to department-wide improvement by identifying opportunities to optimize processes, enhance equipment reliability, and strengthen documentation standards. The individual actively participates in developing, refining, and sustaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent execution across the maintenance function. They provide input to production schedules based on maintenance needs, resource requirements, and equipment availability, and assist in coordinating daily maintenance team activities to support safe and efficient operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review documentation, laboratory reports, and raw data for completeness, mathematical accuracy, and compliance with cGMP and internal procedures.
  • Perform data entry, database updates, maintain organized documentation files (electronic and hard copy) and ensure timely release of required reports to internal departments and external partners.
  • Serve as liaison for documentation issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams, contract suppliers, and contract manufacturers.
  • Create, revise, and type SOPs, forms, worksheets, and other technical documents from approved specifications.
  • Support maintenance and production activities as needed, including organizing and kitting changeover parts.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions, perform small repairs and adjustments, and carry out routine daily and preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Partner with mechanics and operators to maintain change parts and ensure safe, efficient operations.
  • Participate in meetings as needed, including shift tie-in meetings, provide input on parts usage and replacement needs, and support maintenance planning activities.
  • Process and store hazardous or flammable materials in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Provide input to production schedules and assist in coordinating maintenance team activities.
  • Identify and recommend improvement opportunities within maintenance processes and equipment reliability.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Manage multiple priorities effectively with or without direct supervision and work across plant and warehouse locations as directed.
  • Exhibit teamwork, professionalism, and a “flow to work” mindset focused on supporting business needs.
  • Adhere to all company safety rules, procedures, trainings, and guidelines, and maintain high standards of quality, integrity, and workmanship.
  • Accept responsibility for special projects or assignments and ensure completion through individual effort or coordination with others.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducation Requirements

Requires associate degree or related experience and thorough understanding of FDA regulations, technical documentation, and maintenance systems.

Experience Requirements

Working knowledge of various manufacturing technologies, technical writing, and cGMP practices. Preferred experience in lean manufacturing principles and other process improvement tools.
