Job summary

HCA HealthONE Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Denver, CO seeks a Coordinator Laboratory Technician to oversee daily department activities and perform advanced testing to deliver timely, accurate clinical data.

The role reports to Laboratory Director and requires ASCP/NCA/HEW licensure eligibility, a BA/BS in Medical Technology or related field, and at least four years’ technologist experience. Leadership and strong computer skills are essential.

Position Summary: This position supports the mission of Presbyterian/St Luke’s Medical Center of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Under the direction of the Laboratory Director and the Department Supervisor, the Coordinator coordinates the daily activities of the department and performs technical and sophisticated testing procedures to obtain timely and accurate clinical data. The Technologist/Coordinator is responsible for monitoring actions, of personnel, providing quality service and ensuring compliance with CAP, JCAHO, and CLIA standards. Provides technical assistance and training of Laboratory personnel. Ensures validity and accuracy of test results by review of result logs, QC, PI, and worksheets where applicable. Is familiar with the various services available in the hospital and the their interactions with the Laboratory. The Technologist/Coordinator must continually strive to improve leadership skills, training skills and technological skills, and knowledge through formal and informal education.

Job Summary and Qualifications
What qualifications you will need:

Licensure/Certification/Registration: ASCP, NCA, HEW required. Eligible for registry; continued employment will be based on licensure.

Education: College diploma or equivalent who has passed a certification examination for MT by ASCP, NCA or HEW. NCA and ASCP certification require a BA or BS in Medical Technology or related field (Chemistry, Biology, etc.), and one-year internship or appropriate experience prior to examination. HEW Certification requires a combination of education and experience (military or otherwise) prior to examination.

Experience: Four years minimum experience as a Technologist in assigned area required.

Special Qualifications: Strong leadership and good with personal and computer skills. Detail oriented and highly organized.
