Job description

Position Summary

The University of Georgia seeks an organized and thoughtful individual to join the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) as a Coordinator for Instructional Development. The Coordinator reports to the Senior Associate Director for Teaching and Learning and collaborates with CTL personnel to develop and execute plans and protocols for effective operations. Responsibilities include managing program implementation, coordinating external initiatives, cultivating campus relationships, providing training, consultation, and support for faculty and staff. The individual will also develop instructional resources, support the use of learning management systems, and may teach a graduate level instructional development course annually.

Minimum Qualifications

A terminal degree or completion of a terminal degree within six months of the start date.

Additional Requirements

At least one year of teaching experience in higher education and a demonstrated commitment to improving teaching based on research on teaching and learning.

Relevant / Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification
  • A terminal degree in an academic field represented at the University of Georgia.
  • At least one year of experience providing teaching‑related support and/or educational development services to faculty at a higher education institution.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Practical knowledge of evidence‑based principles of effective teaching in higher education.
  • Ability to provide timely, professional support, including needs assessment and strategy development.
  • Ability to apply relevant teaching and learning research to specific situations.
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation, and project management skills with attention to detail and multitasking.
  • Excellence in teaching, instructional design, and/or educational development, preferably at a large public research university.
Physical Demands

Work is performed in‑person in an office environment and requires the use of standard office equipment and keyboards.

Duties / Responsibilities
  • Contribute to educational development programs and services for faculty and graduate students (e.g., conduct mid‑semester formative evaluations of teaching, coordinate the Faculty Learning Community program, lead GradTeach Certificate workshops and cohort leadership, review Learning Technology Grant applications). 40%
  • Leverage project management strategies to assist the Senior Associate Director in developing new and existing programs, services, and events. 20%
  • Provide one‑on‑one and group support for instructors and TAs. 15%
  • Develop evidence‑based resources and support materials for instruction at UGA. 10%
  • Teach once per year within the graduate level teaching courses offered through the graduate school. 10%
  • Engage in professional development and other duties as assigned. 5%
