Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking an Emergency Management and Business Continuity Coordinator to lead our facilities’ preparedness efforts across hospitals, clinics and laboratories. You will coordinate programs, manage resources, and oversee training, exercises and recovery planning.

Reporting to the Director of Facilities Safety, you will collaborate with local emergency management agencies and health departments to strengthen incident response.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor’s preferred.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Emergency Management, Business Continuity or Public Safety experience required.
  • ICS-100, 200, 700, 800 required; ICS-300/400 preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Teams preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement emergency management and business continuity programs for hospitals, outpatient clinics, and laboratories.
  • Oversee planning, organization, resource management, training, exercises and continuous improvement across all phases of emergency management.
  • Manage business continuity planning activities for assigned facilities and coordinate mass notification systems.
  • Acquire and manage emergency management resources and assets; maintain inventories of equipment and supplies.
  • Represent IU Health facilities in emergency preparedness activities and collaborate with local and state agencies and healthcare organizations.
  • Facilitate regular Emergency Management and Business Continuity Subcommittee meetings and drive collaborative decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain capabilities across preparedness, response and recovery for assigned facilities.

Coordinator-Emergency Management and Business Continuity

Indiana University Health is seeking individuals who embody these values to join our Facilities and Maintenance team in the role of Coordinator-Emergency Management and Business Continuity.

The Emergency Management and Business Continuity Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and implementing emergency management and business continuity programs for hospitals, outpatient care clinics, and laboratory facilities. This role manages critical tasks across all phases of emergency management, including mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. The coordinator ensures the successful completion of emergency management activities by overseeing planning, organization, resource management, training, exercises, and continuous improvement efforts. They also oversee business continuity planning activities for assigned facilities and coordinate the use of emergency mass notification systems.

Additionally, the coordinator is responsible for acquiring and managing emergency management resources and assets, including maintaining inventories of equipment and supplies. They represent assigned IU Health facilities in emergency preparedness activities and collaborate with organizations such as city and county emergency management agencies, county health departments, the Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS), the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH), and other local healthcare organizations. The role also includes facilitating regular IU Health Emergency Management and Business Continuity Subcommittee meetings. Success in this position is achieved through collaboration, cooperative decision-making, and the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of emergency preparedness, response, and recovery capabilities across assigned facilities.

Candidate Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED is required. Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • Requires 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Emergency Management, Business Continuity or Public Safety experience is required.
  • ICS-100, 200, 700, 800 required.
  • ICS-300 and 400 preferred.
  • Computer software program proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Teams is preferred.
