Primary Purpose:

To provide instructional leadership in the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of high‑quality instructional systems aligned to the district instructional framework, high‑quality instructional materials (HQIM), and student achievement priorities. Supports campuses and teachers through curriculum development, professional learning, coaching, and implementation support to ensure rigorous Tier 1 instruction and improved student outcomes.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Master’s degree from accredited university with a major in assigned subject
  • Valid Texas Supervisor, Mid‑Management or Standard Principal certificate preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Creative and strategic thinker with knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
  • Ability to interpret data and evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
  • Ability to implement policy and procedures and communicate effectively
  • Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills

Experience:

  • Five (5) years’ of successful experience as a teacher or supervisor in subject area assigned
  • Experience implementing or supporting high‑quality instructional materials (HQIM), curriculum implementation, instructional coaching, and/or professional learning systems preferred.
  • Experience supporting diverse student populations in an urban school district preferred.
  • Demonstrated success improving student achievement outcomes through instructional leadership and coaching practices preferred.
  • Varied grade level experience preferred
  • Instructional leadership experience as a specialist, Model Classroom Teacher (MCT), teacher leader, PLC facilitator, or similar position preferred
  • Gifted/Talented (GT) Certification required for Advanced Academic Services
  • Bilingual/ESL Certification required for Multi‑Language Program
Major Responsibilities and Duties for all Coordinators:
Instructional Program Management
  • Lead the development, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the district instructional program within the assigned content area.
  • Establish and support a coherent instructional vision aligned to district priorities, high‑quality instructional materials (HQIM), the district instructional framework, and student achievement goals.
  • Support campuses in strengthening Tier 1 instruction through standards‑aligned planning, rigorous instructional practices, student engagement strategies, and implementation of HQIM.
  • Collaborate with campus leaders and teachers through instructional coaching, modeling, feedback cycles, PLC support, and professional learning aligned to district instructional priorities.
  • Analyze formative and summative student performance data to identify instructional trends, monitor implementation effectiveness, and guide responsive instructional action planning.
  • Facilitate systems and structures that promote instructional coherence, continuous improvement, and aligned instructional practices across campuses and grade levels.
  • Lead and coordinate district‑wide professional learning and instructional support initiatives.
  • Build collaborative relationships with campus leaders, teachers, and district stakeholders to support instructional excellence and positive student outcomes.
  • Lead, promote, develop and coordinate district‑wide staff development.
  • Analyze formative and summative student performance data to identify instructional trends, monitor implementation, support acceleration efforts, and guide responsive instructional action planning with campuses.
  • Facilitate high‑functioning PLC structures focused on instructional planning, student work analysis, formative assessment practices, and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate programs, identify strengths & weaknesses and create success plans to assist teachers and administrators.
  • Apply current research and evidence‑based instructional practices to support district initiatives and campus implementation.
  • Facilitate the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum guides and documents in accordance with district and state policies.
  • Plan and coordinate exhibits and competitions at district, state and national levels.
  • Review and recommend instructional resources and materials aligned to district instructional priorities and student needs.
  • Review and evaluate content/program curriculum for the purpose of program recommendations at all levels and for assisting in secondary course proposals/deletions.
  • Support the evaluation, selection, and implementation of high‑quality instructional materials (HQIM).
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure aligned instructional systems that support college, career, and military readiness outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Model Classroom Teachers (MCT’s), campus instructional leaders, and teachers to strengthen instructional implementation, professional learning, and aligned instructional practices across campuses.
  • Facilitate collaborative professional learning structures that build instructional capacity across campuses and departments.
  • Review and update handbooks and forms as needed.

Adult Learning + Coaching Expectations

  • Design and deliver high‑impact professional learning experiences aligned to district priorities and instructional initiatives.
  • Provide job‑embedded coaching, modeling, and instructional support to campus leaders, instructional coaches, and teachers.
  • Support Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) through data analysis, lesson alignment, and instructional planning protocols.
Policy, Reports, and Law
  • Assist with the preparation of district, state, and federal reports that relate to PK‑12 programs and/or curriculum.
  • Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in curriculum and instruction area.
  • Prepare long‑range plans, reports, and materials to provide the administration and the board of education with summary information relative to your program.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required.

Communication

  • Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with principals, teachers, staff, parents, and community members.
  • Build strong collaborative relationships and communicate effectively with stakeholders across the district.

Other

  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Utilize instructional technology platforms, assessment systems, and digital resources to support curriculum implementation, communication, professional learning, and data‑informed decision‑making.
  • Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
  • Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise, evaluate, and recommend the hiring and termination of support staff assigned.

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Professional Supervisor Personnel.

Salaries are determined by the number of completed and eligible years of service at an accredited school.
