Job summary

The Center for Women and Families in Louisville, KY, seeks a Coordinator to expand the center's presence in the community through outreach, education, and awareness of intimate partner violence and sexual assault.

The role partners with schools, businesses, healthcare providers, faith-based organizations, and other agencies to deliver prevention programs, trauma-informed information, and survivor-centered support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required or 3+ years in outreach/advocacy substituted for degree
  • Experience in community education or advocacy preferred
  • Background in trauma-informed care or crisis intervention beneficial
  • On-the-job training required (approx. 3–6 months)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement outreach strategies engaging schools, businesses, healthcare providers, and faith-based institutions.
  • Represent The Center at community meetings, coalitions, events, and conferences.
  • Strengthen partnerships to improve survivor access to services.
  • Promote programs through public speaking, awareness campaigns, and workshops.
  • Lead and participate in local Sexual Assault Response Teams to support survivors.
  • Provide evidence-based prevention programming and trauma-informed training.
  • Deliver community education presentations on domestic violence and power-based abuse.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align messaging and outreach strategies.
  • Maintain records of outreach activities and evaluate program outcomes.
  • Ensure confidentiality and comply with reporting laws and ethical standards.

Position Type: Full Time

The Coordinator expands The Center's presence in the community by developing relationships, providing education, and increasing awareness of intimate partner violence (IPV) and sexual assault (SA). This role partners with schools, businesses, healthcare providers, faith-based organizations, and other agencies to deliver prevention education, public awareness programming, and trauma-informed information on survivor support and services. The Coordinator facilitates training, strengthens partnerships, and ensures public engagement strategies are accessible, practical, and survivor-centered in all of the

Qualifications
Community Outreach & Engagement
  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage schools, universities, businesses, healthcare providers, and faith-based institutions.
  • Represent The Center at community meetings, coalitions, outreach events, and conferences.
  • Strengthen existing partnerships and build new relationships to improve community awareness and survivor access to services.
  • Promote The Center's programs through public speaking, awareness campaigns, and community-based workshops.
  • Lead and participate in the local Sexual Assault Response Teams to enhance support for survivors reporting sexual assault.
Training & Education
  • Provide evidence-based prevention programming to youth, professionals, and general audiences.
  • Create and facilitate training on IPV/SA prevention and trauma-informed care.
  • Deliver public education presentations on domestic violence, sexual assault, and power-based abuse.
  • Adapt training materials to ensure cultural relevance and accessibility.
Survivor Support & Advocacy
  • Provide crisis response, short-term advocacy, and trauma-informed referrals to individuals impacted by IPV or SA.
  • Serve as a liaison between survivors and medical, legal, and social service providers.
  • Support access to healing resources using empowerment-based and survivor-centered practices.
  • Assist in developing culturally appropriate outreach materials.
Program Collaboration & Cross-Team Support
  • Collaborate with internal teams to strengthen program messaging and delivery.
  • Contribute to agency-wide prevention campaigns and community education efforts.
  • Support communication and alignment across advocacy teams for consistent outreach strategies.
Data Management & Compliance
  • Maintain records of outreach activities, training events, and survivor engagement.
  • Track program participation and evaluate outcomes to inform future outreach strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with confidentiality, abuse reporting laws, and ethical standards.
  • Provide updates and reports to leadership on program progress.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Experience and Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, public health, education, communications, or a related field required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in outreach, advocacy, or a related area may substitute for a degree.
  • Experience with community education, prevention programming, or advocacy preferred.
  • Background in trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, or case management is beneficial.
  • Previous work with schools, nonprofits, healthcare systems, or community groups is a plus.
  • On-the-job training required (approximately 3-6 months).

  • Excellent interpersonal communication and cultural responsiveness.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed and survivor-centered frameworks.

  • Critical thinking and adaptability in high-pressure situations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, mobile technology, and data systems.
Other Requirements
  • Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a driving record that meets CWF automobile insurance requirements, if operating a company vehicle.
  • Must have a successful background check.
  • Fluency in languages other than English is a plus.
Environment & Physical Demands

Frequent travel for outreach events, trainings, and presentations in in The Center's service area (KY Counties - Jefferson, Bullitt, Shelby, Trimble, Henry, Oldham, Spencer; IN Counties - Clark, Floyd).

Extended standing, walking, and sitting during community programming and service delivery.

Must be able to lift 25 lbs and up to 70 lbs with assistance.

Ability to work in high-stress environments, requiring emotional resilience and adherence to self-care practices.
