The Astounding Academy is seeking a dependable, safety-conscious, and organized Cook/Bus Driver to join our team. This unique role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, values safety, and has experience with food preparation and transportation. The ideal candidate is flexible, reliable, and committed to providing exceptional service to our scholars and staff.

Position Summary

The Cook/Bus Driver is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals, managing food inventory and ordering, and safely transporting children to and from school and field trips. This position plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the center and ensuring the health and safety of our scholars.

Responsibilities

Kitchen Duties

• Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks in accordance with CACFP/Food Program guidelines.
• Maintain accurate food counts and inventory records.
• Order food and kitchen supplies as needed.
• Receive and unload food deliveries and properly stock supplies.
• Monitor food temperatures and maintain required documentation.
• Ensure kitchen cleanliness and sanitation standards are met.
• Follow all Georgia licensing requirements and food safety regulations.
• Maintain an organized and efficient kitchen environment.

Transportation Duties

• Safely transport scholars to and from school and on field trips.
• Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle.
• Ensure children are safely loaded and unloaded from the bus.
• Maintain transportation logs and required documentation.
• Keep the bus clean and report any maintenance concerns promptly.
• Follow all state and center transportation policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate professionalism and excellent customer service with families and staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience in food service and/or transportation preferred.
• Knowledge of the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) preferred.
• Experience with inventory management and ordering food supplies.
• Ability to unload food trucks and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Food Safety Certification required.
• ServSafe Certification required or willingness to obtain.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Previous experience driving children or a school bus is preferred.
• Must pass all required background checks.
• Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
• Must be dependable, flexible, and a team player.
