Job summary

Apple Rehab Farmington Valley in Plainville, CT is seeking a Cook Supervisor to lead the dietary team and ensure meals meet residents' dietary needs while maintaining quality and cost controls.

You will work with the Dietary Manager on planning, purchasing, and production, supervise staff, and help deliver nutritious, appealing meals in a compassionate, patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

• Serv Safe Manager certification required.
• Able to unload and stock groceries up to 50 lbs.
• English reading/writing and basic math proficiency.
• Detail-oriented with strong prioritization.
• Experience in hospital or long-term care kitchen preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise dietary personnel and ensure compliance with policies.
• Collaborate with Dietary Manager on assignments and evaluations.
• Oversee production planning, forecasting, and recipe development.
• Assist with purchasing and proper storage of food and equipment.
• Ensure meals are visually appealing, within budget.
• Operate kitchen equipment and assist residents' needs.
• Participate in planning facility events.

Cook Supervisor

Job Type:

32 hours (fulltime)

Responsibilities:

As a Cook Supervisor, you will lead and supervise dietary personnel, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures. Collaborating closely with the Dietary Manager, you will oversee work assignments, contribute to performance evaluations, and assume responsibility for the department in the absence of the manager. Your role will involve the preparation and serving of meals in accordance with residents' dietary needs while actively participating in production planning, purchasing, and equipment management.

Key Duties:

• Supervise and monitor dietary personnel, ensuring compliance with protocols and guidelines.
• Prepare and serve meals tailored to residents' dietary requirements, in coordination with the Dietary Manager.
• Contribute insights to production planning, including forecasting needs and recipe development.
• Assist in the procurement and proper storage of food and equipment.
• Ensure the dietary department consistently delivers visually appealing, high-quality meals within budget constraints.
• Proficiently operate various kitchen equipment and adaptive tools for residents' specialized needs.
• Respond promptly to residents' requests and needs, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness.
• Collaborate with the Dietary Manager in planning and executing facility-wide special events.

Qualifications:

• Must hold Serv Safe Manager certification
• Must be able to unload and stock groceries on shelves of various heights as well as lift items up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to read, write and understand English, perform simple math calculations, measure and record data.
• Attention to detail, good follow through skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Ability to supervise and instruct others.
• Previous experience in a hospital or long term care facility preferred.
• Demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and ability to work as a team.
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
• Patience, tact, enthusiasm and a positive attitude toward the residents and their support networks
• Ability to communicate with residents, staff and family members in a professional manner.
