Job summary

Overland Park Respiratory & Rehab Center is seeking a dependable Cook to join our dietary team in a nursing facility setting. You will prepare nutritious, high-quality meals in accordance with menus and resident diet orders, while ensuring safety and quality in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates have prior cooking or food service experience and knowledge of food safety, with the ability to follow dietary instructions and maintain a clean kitchen.

Qualifications

• Prior cooking or food service experience required.
• Experience in a skilled nursing facility or healthcare food service setting preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals in accordance with planned menus, standardized recipes, resident diet orders, portion guidelines, and facility policies.
• Assist in preparing meals for residents with regular, modified, therapeutic, texture-modified, and special diets as directed.
• Ensure meals are prepared and served in a timely, attractive, and resident-centered manner.
• Follow proper food handling, sanitation, infection control, and safety procedures at all times.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen and food preparation area.
• Monitor food temperatures, storage practices, and food quality in accordance with facility procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with receiving, storing, labeling, and rotating food and supplies.
• Communicate effectively with the Dietary Supervisor, Dietitian, nursing staff, and other facility team members.
• Report food supply needs, equipment concerns, safety issues, or resident meal concerns to the Dietary Supervisor.
• Promote a positive, accountable, resident-centered, and team-oriented culture.
