Job summary

Oceans Behavioral Hospital Biloxi is seeking a skilled Cook to support our inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services. You will prepare meals, follow therapeutic diets, and work closely with nursing and dietary teams to promote patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities include planning daily cooking schedules, supervising assistants, ensuring food safety, and maintaining accurate temperature records. You will adapt menus, serve meals on the tray line, and help prepare for the next day’s service,

Qualifications

• Experience in institutional or hospital kitchen settings preferred.
• Ability to follow standardized recipes and dietary restrictions.
• Strong adherence to safety and sanitation protocols.

The Cook performs a variety of volume food preparation tasks. Plans cooking schedules and directs the work of assistants in a professional manner. Ensures patient satisfaction. All duties to be done in accordance with Joint Commission, Federal and State regulations, Oceans' Mission, policies and procedures, and Performance Improvement standards.

Essential Functions:

1. Plans daily cooking schedule to meet deadlines and follows standardized recipes.
2. Directs the work of assistants and aides in a professional manner.
3. Prepares and serves meals per menus, physician orders, resident preferences, and therapeutic diet spreadsheet.
4. Assures food is served as proper temperatures and records these temperatures.
5. Makes proper food substitutions within food groups as directed.
6. Serves food on tray line at mealtime.
7. Cleans, sanitizes, and covers kitchen equipment and follows listed cleaning assignments.
8. Prepares for the following day's menu.
9. Adheres to all policies and procedures.
10. Other duties as assigned.
