Job summary

Open Minds Child Development Center in Olathe, KS is seeking a Preschool Cook who will plan and prepare healthy meals for young children and coordinate with administration on weekly menus. This role requires care, organization, and a positive, team-oriented attitude to support our students and families.

You will work in a fast-paced kitchen, maintain sanitary standards, and participate in monthly trainings to ensure consistent, quality meals for children aged infancy to 5 years.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• At least one year of experience working in a licensed child care facility or similar institute.
• Proficiency with classroom technology (IPads, laptops, etc.)
• Ability to sit, stoop, bend to low level positions that best allow interactions with the students
• Willing to obtain current CPR and First Aid training
• Pass pre-employment screening and fingerprint background check

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare breakfast, lunch, and snack in accordance with the school's requirements and established standards.
• Provide substitute meals for children with special dietary requirements.
• Organize food and supplies storage areas.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work station.
• Maintain organized systems in the kitchen and pantry.
• Work collaboratively and contribute to the weekly food menus.
• Represent Open Minds in a professional manner.
• Be a positive role model for our students.
• Attend monthly training days

Salary Range

$15.00-$19.00 per/hour

Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications

• The ability to lift 40 lbs is strongly desired
• Must be detail-oriented, well-organized, with excellent time management skills
• Should be comfortable communicating with and handling children from infancy to 5 years old
• Should have excellent cooking skills with adequate knowledge to coordinate with administration on weekly meal plans
