Job summary

Sonesta Hotels in Chicago is seeking a Cook to set the tone of service by consistently preparing and producing food orders according to quality standards. The role demands maintaining a safe work environment and following sanitation guidelines to ensure guest satisfaction.

You will handle station responsibilities, ensure production quality, and support colleagues in a fast-paced hotel kitchen while upholding Sonesta’s guest-focused service model.

Responsibilities

• Maintain food production and quality control at broiler, sauté, grill stations.
• Prepare hot items according to recipes and guest checks.
• Inspect ingredients and ensure quality and safety standards.
• Fill daily production chart and keep areas clean per Health Department rules.
• Read/use Use Record Specifications and ensure equipment is clean and functional.
• Perform other duties as assigned in the kitchen.

Job Description Summary

The Cook sets the tone for Sonesta’s mission by always going above and beyond for our guests and coworkers. The role’s primary responsibility is to prepare and produce food orders according to quality standards. The Cook shall maintain a safe work environment and follow established sanitation and safety standards.

Job Description

• Operational/Functional
  • Responsible for maintaining, setting up, food production and quality control of all meat, fish, fowl, sauces, stocks, seasonings, and other food items prepared in the broiler and sauté stations, as well as the grill and other stations as needed.
  • Prepares all hot food items according to standard recipes and/or as specified on guest check to ensure consistency of product to the guest.
  • Visually inspects, selects and uses only food items ideal for sautéing, in the preparation of all menu items.
• Strategy and Planning
  • Ensures daily production chart is properly filled out to standards.
  • Keep all refrigeration, storage and working areas in clean, working condition to comply with Health Department regulations.
  • Ability to read and perform Use Record Specifications.
  • Ensure all equipment in working areas is clean and in proper working condition.
  • Reads and employs math skills to appropriately prepare items according to recipes.
  • Requires stamina for standing and strength for lifting and moving products.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay range $27.26 -$28.26
