Job summary

Senior Resource Group in Santa Barbara, CA, is seeking a dedicated line cook/prep cook to join our kitchen team. You will prepare ingredients, cook items to recipes, plate dishes, and ensure presentation and temperature standards are met. We value sanitation, safety, and high-volume throughput.

Full-time position with evenings, weekends, and holidays required; English and Spanish are a plus. DOE pay range is $22–$25 per hour.

Qualifications

• Proven cooking experience in a kitchen role.
• Knowledge of health and safety sanitation (e.g., ServeSafe).
• Ability to stand for long periods in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in senior living, hotels, or catering is a plus.
• English and Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Food Preparation: Cleaning, cutting, measuring, and mixing ingredients; prepping food for service.
• Cooking: Operating grills, fryers, and ovens to prepare food items per recipes.
• Plating & Quality Control: Ensure proper presentation and serving temperature.
• Sanitation & Safety: Maintain a clean, sanitized workstation and follow regulations.
• Inventory & Storage: Store and label items, check stock levels, manage temps.

Job Description

• Food Preparation: Cleaning, cutting, measuring, and mixing ingredients; prepping food for service.
• Cooking: Operating equipment like grills, fryers, and ovens to prepare food items according to recipes.
• Plating & Quality Control: Ensuring food is properly presented, garnished, and served at the correct temperature.
• Sanitation & Safety: Maintaining a clean, sanitized, and organized workstation, complying with health regulations.
• Inventory & Storage: Storing food at appropriate temperatures, labeling items, and checking stock levels
• Full time and open availability, holidays included.

Qualifications

• Proven cooking experience (line cook, prep cook, etc.).
• Knowledge of health and safety sanitation regulations (e.g., ServeSafe certification).
• Ability to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced environment
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and cleanliness.
• Organization and the ability to keep up with high-volume, high-pressure demands is a must.
• Preferred experience in senior living communities, hotels, catering background
• English and Spanish a plus.
