Job summary

Ocean Meadow Senior Living in Clinton, CT, seeks a cook to prepare and present meals for residents in memory care, following established menus and recipes to maintain high dining standards.

You will work with the Director of Culinary Services to ensure timely service, safe food handling, and a restaurant-style dining experience, while keeping the kitchen clean and compliant with safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Culinary training is preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of cook experience in a hospitality or healthcare setting.
• Food handler permit as required by state law.
• Able to read and follow recipes and printed production guides, cleaning schedules, and logs.
• Knowledge of food handling, preparation, cooking, and service.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals in the community according to Ocean Meadow Senior Living standards.
• Provide a high level of customer service and promote a restaurant style dining atmosphere.
• Work closely with the Director of Culinary Services and/or Executive Director to keep residents satisfied with food and dining programs.
• Ensure that all food is received, stored, and prepared according to company standards.
• Maintain kitchen and food storage and preparation areas clean, safe, and sanitary.
• Responsible for the overall food quality and presentation of meals according to established recipes and approved menus.
• In the absence of the Director of Culinary Services, oversee daily kitchen operations, helping maintain high standards for food preparation and service.
• Assist Director of Culinary Services in menu planning and development based on resident likes and dislikes.
• Document the temperatures of food before service, as well as refrigeration and freezer temperatures.
• Prepare and ensure snacks and beverages are always available to residents.
• Keep kitchen floors clean (sweeps and mops) and trash emptied.
• Assist with the transportation and storage of food and supplies.
• May perform other duties as needed and/or assigned.

Shift availability:

• Sunday 6 am to 6 pm
• Monday 8:30am to 6:30 pm
• Tuesday 8:30 am to 6:30pm

Pay: $18 - $20 per hour
